[Jurong West] Primary Schools
-
thanks baby.chio & tamarind
I went to Juying Pri. quite impressive with the school and was surprise that 1 of the teacher actually called to explain further. They are single session which is good but it is a little further in and my caregiver will have problem sending/fetching my son for CCA (no sch bus)
Hence, i’m left with only 1 school that is within walking distant… JWPS
base on past history, it is quite popular in phase 2c. -
My boy in Juying P1 this yr. I did not manage to get into west grove last yr…… but now feel glad that boy is in Juying.
I find the teachers are very good. All class teachers will bring all students to gate everyday, so some parents will get to see and talk to the teacher everyday (not sure about other sch). They have quite a lot of homework daily and I find the homework is actually quite tough (I compare with my nephew at Bt panjang, same text and prog, only spelling easier). The only thing I don’t really like is the school hours… Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri : 7.10am – 1.30pm Wed 7.10pm – 12.30pm. The silent reading starts at 7.10am… Their remedial lesson starts last month for some weak students (all level but diff day) : 2 – 3 pm.
They organize talk for P1 parents during last yr nov (after the orientation) helping parents to prepare their chn for P1, on the 2nd and 3rd day of sch there’s also talk for parents to attend. There’s also hanyupinyin talk for parents to understand how they teach, last friday there’s a reading prog for parents and their children in the evening.
Overall, I think Juying is quite a good school. -
Juying sounds like a good school. I wonder why their single session must start so early ? If they start at 9am, I will certainly go for that school.
I am a FTWM, cannot imagine if my kids must go to school before 7am every morning. That means they must sleep at 8pm every night, and I will only be able to spend very little time with them ! -
agree.. my nephew is in Juying P1 this yr oso & guess what the school bus fetches him at 5.30 every morning.. *yawn* & to add on.. he is staying at St 61 so its not tat far away oso from school

Btw wanna ask any of the mummies or daddies here are alumni of Rulang?
& comments on whether should I join the alumni to be on a one step higher phase den old student?

Since Monday is school holidays,I was thinking of bringing my son to go and look at West Grove and Pioneer Primary. Can we just walk in or do we have to make an appointment ?
Thanks ! -
Hi
Always knew that Rulang is no doubt the best school in the west zone, so you can imagine the joy when I got my son’s number picked during balletng…it’s like strike lottery!
Anyway, it is end of term 1 now. My boy is coping well and he has mostly A, if not B for his term 1 ratings. Probably because of the preparation we gave when he was in K2.
So seriously, I donno if Rulang’s standard is high or the early preparation works. But, I found the homepage of Rulang really sucks…It is not updated frequently too, in addition, some of the home work given are also very normal standard…that definitely lower my previous high hopes and expection of Rulang… -

Any idea whether doing PV for Rulang would guarantee a place? -

No guarantee, but looking at this yr's result and considering next yr is yr of tiger, I guess chances should be better.
