What is the chance of 250+2 getting into an IP sch? Eg: RV COP 252, so my hmt of +2 will be counted as 252 or i still lose out to those of tscore purely 252 one??
The higher your raw Tscore, you will enter first

If 2019 COP for River Valley High is indeed 252 this year, then

252 +0 (those never taken HCL), will enter into RV (IP) first, before any

251 +1 (pass, for HCL), who will in turn also enter into RV (IP) first, before any

      250 +2 (merit, for HCL)

It is your original Raw T-score, that take precedence first

Then, u got to ask yourself honestly, suppose u have passed O-level (Malay), or passed O-level (3rd foreign language : Japanese / German / Spanish / French ),

how then, are u going to apply and make use of what u have learnt, for the future, going forward into Junior College / Polytechnic / future career, one day ?

A person who is not eligible for HCL may choose to take up MSP so that he can take 2 points off for JC. But without interest, it can be really hard. My friend’s kid did this and dropped MSP somewhere before sec 4. At one point, the kid was even looking for Malay tuition.

For foreign language, I think most people take it up either for interest or for the fun of it.

i believe ur interpretation is incorrect. T-score with HMT bonus points included are tteated like raw score for admission priority into SAP schools regardless IP or not.

Is Guangyang school a good school? I am puzzled why the PSLE score min and max is so wide? 188 to 250+
For various reasons I guess. DC friend was 278 back in 2015, and went in RV, now in triple science class.

                  In Guangyang Secondary

some scored 188 can still choose Express stream. There are a few classes for Express stream

Perhaps, check what talent programme does Guangyang Secondary offer, since there are students with 250+ also inside. Nowadays, a number of Secondary schools offer interesting Applied learning programme

What’s your definition of a good school?

There are various reasons. Sometimes people don’t mind a school next to their place as convenience override all other concerns. Besides, if you frequent Bishan often, you will realize that Guangyang students, despite the seemingly low COP, aren’t those problematic type and reasonably well behaved.

FWIW, one of my best had a score of 260+. Could have gone to HCI (then known as TCHS) but went to a neighborhood school with an equivalent COP of COP 188. He didn’t make the selection - his grandmother / mother, who are not well-educated, did. Nonetheless, he was too lazy to change it (during my times, those who qualify for SAP can change after results announced). Needless to say, he’s the best student in the school by a mile. Went on to JC and Uni. In the end, didn’t hurt him a bit TBH.

Seriously, so my tscore will 250+2 =252 if I apply for SAP sch and not 250+2..... now I can see some light

They are refering to Guangyang Secondary school, not from Guanyang primary after psle go River Valley high
