Hmm it may be easier to withdraw since everything is centrally controlled but I imagine they will put in controls to avoid last min withdrawals that crashes the system or makes the process unfair.

live updates on the registrations should be available... but maybe it is wishful thinking.
there should not be anything considered last min la

if rules say can apply/withdraw before 4:30pm,
4:29pm is a valid entry too.

this year, cannot go last minute 3.30 pm to withdraw, because

long queue due to social distancing

It seems like you might not even be allowed to go down to withdraw, as it says ‘there will be no in-person registration this year’, which should mean no in person withdrawals either. Probably have to do everything online.[/quote]I read this as easier to withdraw

            using singapss to log in
            authenticate
            click click

don't even need to travel and show NRIC (physcial withdraw)

Cos most people are generally ignorant.

A lot of people sees XXX school 25% above 250 - which they will then conclude it’s a good school (which it is) and possibly that their child also got 25% chance of doing well.

However, once the GEP cohort (2 to 3 classes) is subtracted from the total, the numbers will drop sharply and the result is likely within the norms of similar schools with similar cohort, ie middle income families to high SES groups.

Too much math and too much logic for people to understand. Hence, most people prefer to remain ignorant.

as much that you have assumed that Parent's X child does not belong to the top 25% in (say Rosyth)

there is an equal and opposite probability that that child does belong to the top 25% and likes that school.

3 years on, still no update on this issue raised in parliament.
\"Mr Gan asked what percentage of Primary 1 school children had successfully enrolled in their parents’ alma mater, and of these, how many stayed more than 8km from the school.

Dr Janil said the number of applicants at Phase 2A(1) and Phase 2A(2) has remained “fairly stable” over the past three years. It stands at about 12 per cent of the Primary 1 cohort.\"

Are you sure? Schools like NYPS, Pei Hwa, Roysth how much % taken up by alumni? And how many staying >8km?
With P1 registration coming up, this issue should be looked into again. Maybe cap the distance of alumni applying and then divide the rest between 2B and 2C equally.

With Covid going on right now, I think there are bigger life & death issues to be debated in parliament nowsadays…

Should be along the lines of how IRAS does things... time stamped at the confirmation screen. Not about what time you started the process but what time you the entry was captured.
