      The model I drew is based on the P4 Onsponge guide book which I bought. I don’t really recommend the book (even though many parents rave about it) - I don’t think it provides very clear guidance.

      If this is the correct technique, then it seems the model makes use of “cutting up” the model to show that the transferred amount actually contains smaller numbers that you can manipulate to calculate the answer.

      I’m not certain this is the correct technique though. Gotta wait for my son’s school teacher to teach them. So far not yet. Why Xinghua so advanced :nailbite:

            Already using units. What is “parts”?

              units -> x -> Ah Seng -> Romeo
              parts -> y -> Ah Beng -> Juliet

              actually,

              parts & units -> Simultaneous equations :rotflmao:

                To me, units is like beginner’s introduction to algebra:

                Eg. 3U = 30
                1U = 30 / 3 = 10

                  Right, simultaneous equations is what we called it. My daughter been using algebra since P3. No issue.

                    yes, same

                        Zac's mum , thanks again! I was tempted to buy the sponge at beginning of the year too , but in the end i got the gradual difficulty assmt book instead because of the pricing diff 😛 . Thanks for your feedback on this book, luckily i did not buy lol.... There are sorts of question in the internal transfer topic.. sometimes it makes me think why they need the students to twist and turn the brain till... haha... feeling giddy.
