just found out that
German (language) is not offered, inside NUS High.
NUS High school admin said that they had made arrangement for foreign language Teachers to be sent down, or attached inside NUSH school premises, to teach students either (Japanese or French only).
But no German, also no Spanish.
Thks for the clarification :salute: :salute: -

Depending on which part of Switzerland you are going. If you are living in Cantons such as Geneva, nechetel (not sure about the spelling) you may take French. If going to Zurich, Bern and Basel, then German. There are two federal Uni—ETH and EPFL.ETH in Zurich and EPFL in Lausanne. Zurich is German speaking and Lausanne is French speaking. We lived in German speaking Basel a few years ago. So we incline on ETH. Both ETH are EPFL are very good schools. Not just the reputation and ranking.
Isn’t French a working language in Switzerland too (besides German)? Just curious and kaypoh.
Switzerland also has two or three Italian speaking cantons. Many Swiss can speak four languages. I know one pianist who can speak very fluent English (studying at Yale), German, French, Spanish. level 6 HSK Chinese then some basic Italian....... -
Hi,
My DD is 11 years old and applying to NUS High. She would like to see if any current or recently graduated students would be free to chat with her over zoom? She would like to know more about the school.
Thank you. -
Do you mind just communicating through watsapp if you still have questions you want to ask? I am a current year 6 student but am not comfortable talking over zoom. As an alternative you can just post her questions here

Perhaps your DD can also look for the NUSH Students Council Instagram page and see if she can contact the Council leaders to respond. I am sure the Council would be more than happy to chat. As your DD is about to enter, my suggestion is really to speak to Y1 and Y2 students in the 2020 cohort, rather than those who have already graduated (as the information gap between those new to the school and those who have gone thru 6 years can be quite big).

The Y1s and Y2s would be more than happy to talk and also share with your DD all their experiences in the school. Each and every year, the junior high students will be able to clear all the \"myths\" about the school.
It is a very close knit community, and all of us who have the opportunity to have our kids at NUS High, treasure it. -
There is a curriculum change between the current year 6 and the year 5 where the year 5 chose their major at the end of year 3 while the year 6 chose their major at the end of year 4. Thus, you may want to talk to the other years except for the current year 6 since their curriculum is different.

Can I ask if NUS High will still have SIE vacancies for the past years? If Yes, estimated how many vacancies? Chances of getting in under SIE high?

We may get back to Singapore next year which my kid is in P6. Beside taking the SPERS, would like to try DSA NUS High.
Kid has not attend Singapore Pri sch at all.
Kid is in international school but sch doesn’t have test, exam so no show of grading (A,B etc) nor marks at all. Kid also no portfolio… Hmmmm… So how to be selected for such case?
