Finally my child has finish the psle paper. Yeah!Next year again for my younger one. Anyone has any idea does parents need to accompany our child go the school when collect result?

Yes, moral support , Go with your child ๐Ÿ™‚

Due to covid-19 ,
this year,
don't think schools will allow parents to sit at back of the hall anymore, to await for release of results, unlike previous pre-covid years. Schools are very strict now, don't anyhow let parents entered school premises, due to covid.

Very likely,
students just go directly to their own P6 classroom, and collect their PSLE results.
Hi, anybody knows of the answer for the psle 2020 science question about trapping mosquito...
Daughter can not recall the question but said itโ€™s about a person contracting malaria & trapping mosquito.. ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

The qn was something like, โ€œA layer of oil is sprayed over stagnant water to prevent mosquitoes from breeding. How does this do so?โ€ Pic for this qn was a mosquito larvae inside some water with oil on TOP.

DD answered : The layer of oil will block the larva's breathing tube hence it is unable to obtain atmospheric air. It will die and not be able to breed (reproduce).

Anyone knows part (c) of this question, something like...based on the scientist's results, what can be done to reduce the number of mosquitoes that land on the shirt of the child with disease A?

Maybe this year will be a special year where results will be announced online and parents login for their childโ€™s result via SingPass ๐Ÿ˜œ

In summary , this the feel /view i see:
Eng & Chinese - Manageable (chinese not as hard as expected )
Math - Not a real Difficult papers throughout but defintely not that easy & straight forward
Sci - some says easier than last 2yr/ manageable ; some say difficult (?)

last time for my elder child few yrs ago , we estimated based :
Eng , Chinese , Math + sci avg score for two subjects . over 100% --> i did manage to get the T score -quite a close estimation for us then
Do you mean...

Take for example raw score are:-
- EL : 90
- CL : 92
- Maths : 98
- Science : 86

Estimated Aggregate will be 90 + 92 + (98+86)/2 = 274

This is a gap from the estimation 0.70 to 0.75 (if I take midpoint of 0.725), where (90+92+98+86) x 0.725 = 265

Sorry for asking such a stupid question.
I was under the impression that the top 10percent of marks will be Astar. Am I wrong?
My son took PSLE in 2013, he scored A* for MAths and English and he was the top 10%. If the child's result is the top 10%, he would be offered to take Japanese, French and etc .

yes i used this simple way, it worked out for us few yrs ago. a parent told me about this old rumoured calculation earlier. bascically it is x 0.75 . :scratchhead: But we must guess the kid score based on their papers mistakes made
I know abt the formula of T score, but din use . cos unknown sd and avg marks etc

Above 80 for distinction, to add 3 points.
