I mean for the enrichment programmes, cca co payment and workshops organised, roughly how much do parents need to pay through Giro yearly?

      Thank you for your replies.

CCA co-payment varies from $80 to $350 per year (according to the Term1 letter). It can be offset or paid out of the Edusave fund though. So if there's enough funds in there, there may not be any out-of-pocket expenses.

Oh is it? Then why is the school charging me via Giro?

Actually, I thought I paid by GIRO last year too.
But I just checked the August 2020 collection letter and it says this:

\"Please refer to the attached invoice. No payment is required from you as the amount payable will be deducted from your daughter's edusave account.

The finalised 2020 CCA Co-payment is 80% of what was communicated in our letter dated 8 Jan 2020.

        Thank you for your attention.\"

Thanks for the information. May I know what is your DD's cca? It's quite a huge amount.. Is it Inforcomm club?
Nope not infocomm. She is in debate. It is expensive because it is a small club. Each batch takes in only 7 to 8. So each member as to shoulder a bigger share of the cost.

            Hi!

I am looking for some advice from NYGH parents please. After Wednesday’s release of PSLE results, we find ourselves in the (fortunate) situation of being able to choose between NYGH and RGS. When your DD was choosing a school, did she consider RGS as well? If so, what made her choose NYGH over RGS? And now that she is in NYGH, how has it compared to her initial impressions?

If there’s anything else you can share about your DD’s experiences at NYGH, it would definitely be very helpful, and hopefully it can help us make a more informed decision.

            Thank you so much!

You might want to just pop in and take a look first while you are still gathering feedback from parents.

Omg! I see that the Debate intake is small! I wonder if Inforcomm club is the same too, whether how competitive it would be to get into it…DD in Inforcomm in primary school, will that even help…

Don't worry too much over these.
There'll be lots of clubs and societies for your daughter to see during the cca showcase.
They'll be invited to go for auditions & trials during Jan/ Feb timeframe.
Good time to let them go explore and find out what they want to try out.

Obviously, there are some competitive cca's like debate, sports & performance arts, especially those in which the school competes on a national level. But there will be others to cater to other interests, so no need to be too stressed out - just ask her to enjoy the journey.

                      Hi Swc

How does NYGH debate club select its members? Is debating experience in primary school compulsory? My child is very interested in the debate club but has no prior experience. We are a little disheartened to hear about the small intake. Thank you.

I strongly encourage your DD to visit the Debate Club booth during CCA fair (hopefully won't be cancelled due to covid-19) and find out more from the senior girls. They will be more than happy to answer any questions your DD might have about Debate or even about life in nygh in general!

And please dun be deterred by the small intake or by the lack of debate experience. Many current members have no prior experience. The small intake is to make sure every girl gets the chance to participate in various competitions. So good luck!!!
