It doesn't matter whether he enters the school with high or low score. Once you are in the school, you are in good hands. The teachers there are helpful and some are willing to go the extra mile to help students. Of course, like in every school, it depends on your luck what type of teachers you get.
Thanks for the quick advise. He's also just below COP so am worried he'll struggle as most students will be 250 range.moon03\" post_id=\"2005304\" time=\"1606550238\" user_id=\"124558:
What is your main concern?I just attended AHS and MSH which seems more all rounder and HCL is optional but doesn't seem as academic as CCHM. Any advise?
1. That your son will struggle with Chinese? Then you shouldn't choose CCHMS.
2. Academic emphasis? I am not sure about the other two schools but I do believe since the COPs of the three schools are close to each other, there shouldn't be that much difference in academic standards. Every year you see students from these three schools enter HCI, RI, NYJC, etc.
But it does sound to me that your main concern is still his HCL? Maybe you should consider schools where HCL is not compulsory? These schools usually have selection test for students at the end of the year to see if they can take HCL the following year. So, if your son develops an interest in HCL, he will have the option of taking the selection test and qualify for HCL? -
Really appreciate your prompt reply. He don’t like HCL that much compared to the rest as its its worst subject while he did well in the others. I attended CCHM open house today and feel he just need to be in the right school and with the teachers passionate and caring to guide him and then his interest in HCL will pick up. Personally, I prefer he continue HCL as Chinese will have growing importance overtime especially when he join the workforce. I’ll put as it as one the sec school choice for now together with the other SAP schools since he can make use of his extra PSLE HCL points. Thanks for your help again. 😊

conscious effort by the school, to create a conducive Chinese learning environment. -
My dd was determined to get into CCHM ever since attending open house 2017/2019. She was impressed with the vibrant environment, senior student engagement and etc.
She got 249 (+2) and posted successfully to CCHM via DSA.
I believed our children would do fairly well if they knows where they are heading to their eventual goal and are also equally capable to make certain judgement in their journey. Cheers.
**Pse PM me If there is a Sec1 2021 chat grp parents from all classes. Thank you. -

Many congrats! Self-motivation and inner drive will have 10x the impact of anything we (parents) can tell them (over and over). Once they get it themselves, they are off to the races!

Hi,
Do you think CCHM COP will go up this year ? It was like increasing +1/+2 every year for the past 5 years -

If we won’t know the demand side of it, we can try find out the supply side of it. I believe year 2020 the number of classes was reduced from 10 to 9. The COP increased by 2, to 244, due to lesser intake . If you can find out number of 2021 Sec 1 classes, it may provide some indication.

At end-of-Sec 2 streaming exercise choosing Sec 3 subject combination,
for students who are taking Sec 3 Triple Pure Sciences, are they allowed to consume 2 Humanities, instead of just one single Humanities ?
Example
Can end-of-Sec 2 Top students in CCH (Main) allowed to appeal,
take Total 9 subjects in O-level exam,
comprising
(Triple Pure Sciences + Double Humanities) instead of the initial, original Total 8 subjects permitted,
as follow ?
1) English language
2) Higher Chinese
(compulsory in CCH Main, not Yishun branch)
3) Additional Maths
4) Elementary Maths
5) Pure Physics
6) Pure Chemistry
7) Pure Biology
Combined Humanities, comprising 2 components (compulsory Social Studies + an Elective, which you can choose from your Literature / Geography / History ), is treated as overall one single subject.
This is your first Humanities subject
"Social Studies" need to be paired & tagged along together, with an "Elective", together then form one subject.
9) Core or Full Humanities
This is your second humanities subject.
