Can I check my boy has 246 and if he only have one school choice at 239 with + 7pt, is it sufficient?
Another two at 243 and 244, is it enough for safety net? Or should I add another at 235? -

So nice of you to offer your help ERROR! :imanangel:
Hi parents! I heard the 2020 PSLE students have received their PSLE results few days ago. If you have any questions about secondary school life, please feel free to ask me. During the holidays I find myself bored so I decided to help out! Please note I can't guarantee to be able to answer every question!
Here is some background information about me: I am Secondary 1 student from what most would label \"a neighbourhood school\". I am currently studying in the Express Stream! -

I think it's best to have the first three choices quite close to what your boy have, and the last three be at least 5 points below your boy's score. So in this context, the 243 and 244 sch should be in the top 3 and the 239 should be in the last 3 options. Not the best advice but it is what I believe is sufficient.

I beg to differ.

If the school with COP 239 is truly what the boy wants, leave it as first choice. The rest (probably redundant) can follow. We should be choosing schools most suitable for the child, and not schools that best fit the COP / t-score.
While a school COP can move quite a bit, going +7 from 239 to 246 would be quite unheard of. -
Dear Parents,
To understand how the 2020 PSLE cohort performed and therefore have a better perspective of how the COPs of different secondary schools are likely to move (ie. increase or decrease), can parents of this year's cohort kindly help to post the highest T-score (please EXCLUDE the HCL bonus points) in their child's respective primary school by clicking on the below link?
https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/t-scores/
Currently, the table only reflects the t-score information of < 20 schools which makes it difficult for any meaningful analysis. Hence, would like to appeal for more parents to step forward and share the highest t-score data in their child's primary school by clicking on the above link.
Many thanks in advance!
:thankyou:

I guess for IP school, there is no harm taking triple science since they don't have to worry about maximising chance to have better results at L1R5. Further, like some said here, it's easier to pick up a humanity subject in JC but it's hard to pick up a science subject.
The IP gpa calculation usually requires certain subjects to be included and very often, it requires at least one humanities subject too. Almost like L1R5. Additional info - Some IPs require MT, whereas L1R5 not compulsory.
HCI allows student to take 2 sciences (Phy and Chem), 2 humanities, 2 maths and 2 languages, plus Additional subject of either Bio or Computing, total 9 subjects, provided his Sec 2 result is good.pengpeng\" post_id=\"2006052\" time=\"1606739677\" user_id=\"77520:
Are the children allowed to do 3 sciences with 2 humanities? Including 2 math and 2 languages, 9 in total? What’s the popular subject combination for IP now?
10th subject needs special approval. -

pengpeng is right. Social Studies is a full subject at HCI (i.e. it covers more than the half subject at O levels).
HCI does offer two Humanity subjects which are different from O level subjects. For IP curriculum, one is Social Study, one is Humanities Elective of Geography/History/Literature English/Literature Chinese. Students have the choice of taking 2 sciences plus 2 humanities or selecting 3 sciences plus 2 humanities.
There are a few Special Programs which the humanities subjects are slightly different.
If you are not in any special programmes in HCI, you will read two full Humanities. For the Science and Tech aspects, it's Phy+Chem, or Phy+Chem+Bio, or Phy+Chem+Computing. You can't take both Bio and Computing at the same time. -

I see. I had thought that the SS at HCI is also a half subject (like that of other non-IP schools). Thanks for the clarification!

What’s the sensing of the cop this time round? Will we be seeing a rise in the cop this time? Status quo or drop generally?
