Yes, some students do go to a separate class during Chinese lessons, although I'm not exactly sure what the differentiating criterion is. Prob their PSLE results for CL (and maybe HCL).

I thk its their T-score cos my child did not take HMT in pri and only got A for chinese for PSLE but she is in the beta chinese class. But of cos she did struggle initially

i thought so and my kid said the whole class got A* for chinese except her
i also not sure y she is in the better class so maybe due to her t-score cos its in the 260+ range

wat u mean by beta chinese class?[/quote]they r split into \"rainbow class\" which is students weaker in chinese and \"better\" class for students stronger in chinese right at the start of the yr
not sure how they split but according to her ...the whole class will be together in S2...those in rainbow class got promoted ...
