      Hi parents

I would like to hear from parents whose daughters are studying in MMC on the amount of books that the students require to bring on a daily basis and what would be a good size school bag to purchase? I saw a wide variety online and not sure what is a good size bag to buy to fit all the books required for each day. I haven’t gotten the book list yet for my daughter going P1 next year so really appreciate your sharing in advance!

          Hi all

I always see a long queue of cars dropping off kids at MC. Is it a daily grind in the mornings? Doesnt seem to be the faster drop and go sort.

Other query is, our family is Catholic and we would want our dd to attend a Catholic sch.

Wouldnt say MC is the next option if IJ TP fails as ive been told by many others. I believe both have their own strengths but am leaning twds IJ for their affiliation.
We fall under 2B but >2km for both schs. Not sure if MC has bus to Wdlands, Past stats has showed ballots for 2B but doesnt say hw many km zone.
DS went thru the ballotted system for 2B and ‘‘potentially’’ move on to SJI which is near both MC and IJTP so i can drop them both…the upcoming TEL is handy as well. Still pondering what to do…

Woodlands to Caldecott TEL station will be ultra convenient when it’s up.

I see plenty of parents who choose to drop off/pick up their MC gals at Caldecott MRT. There’s a side gate up the hill to the school. There are sufficient waiting areas for cars. Don’t need to go squeeze with the main crowd.

Hi, I’m a newbie here. I’ve been reading the forum and feels that MC is a really good fit for my daughter.

Would like to find out more if PR’s over 2km would be able to get in easily in Phase 2C, especially when there is now the cap on PR’s? We would prefer not to move but if need be then we will make the necessary work.

                  Hi everyone

I saw from past statistics that it is rather easy to enter MC at Phase 2C. Just want to confirm that it is so (that I am not reading the info wrongly). Also, to ask why MC does not seem so popular with parents.

In the past only, Yes, easy to enter Marymount convent.

But ever since Moe imposed the quota, not easy for PR anymore unless u happen to stay within the distance, whereby no need to ballot. Thus, still need to prepare another "stand-by" school.

Marymount Convent is a good school.

                    It is not popular,
                    because
no affliation advantage to Secondary schools, unlike the ( CHIJ, Paya Lebar Methodist, Methodist Girls) "All-Girls" primary schools.

Would it be easy for SC in Phase 2C (out of 2km)? Am considering it for this year’s P1 registration.

Compare to neighboring girls’ schools such as CHIJ SNGS, CHIJ TP or even those slightly further afield such as CHIJ OLGC or PLMGS, MCS comes with no affiliation bonus.

Furthermore, there’s also an issue of several popular schools like PCPS and ATS sucking away most of the oxygen.
