Hi Parents,
Based on the info here, as well as the JAE COP for 2019, https://kungfuphysics.com/jc-cut-off-points-2019/
- it seems like EJC did pretty well relative to NJC and VJC? In terms of IP, I would imagine post-PSLE, the IP cohorts of EJC are comparable to that of NJC and VJC. Is my interpretation wrong?
JC Rankings (Result release in Year 2021
1) Hwa Chong Institution (Mean 85, 25% score UAS 90 RP) RP stands for Rank Points, full score is 90
2) Raffles Junior College (Mean 84.5, 28% score UAS 90 RP)
3) Victoria Junior College (Median 85, 15% score UAS 90 RP, 40% > 87.5 RP)
4) Eunoia Junior College (Median 85, 13% score UAS 90 RP, 50% > 85 RP )
5) Dunman High (Median 83, 40% = or > 85 RP)
6)National Junior College (Median 83, 40% = or > 85 RP)
7)River Valley High ( no indication of median, 30% = or > 85 RP) -

EJC has done well. However, it’s not possible to segregate IP / JAE since results aren’t presented separately. As for post-PSLE, the IP cohort of EJC (SNGS / SCGS / CHS) are definitely comparable to that of VJC (CGSS / VS) and NJC.

I have an interest in EJC because one of my kids (God-willing, if never drop out of IP) should be progressing to EJC. EJC however remains a concern to us as it is not an ‘established JC’ with a track record. Hence I am naturally curious how it is faring relative to other JCs, and hope it is doing fine. Am relieved to see that it did at least as well as NJC/VJC. Given EJC’s relatively poorer JAE intake, though we don’t know the JAE/IP performance, fortunately overall, EJC still did okay.

Every school, a good school
No offense but I wonder at the value of JC comparison. I have a child who went VJC and graduated with perfect As. Another child who just graduated from ASRJC and did 82.5.
I also had friends whose dc went to jurong pioneer and Yishun innova JC and did 88.75 so my conclusion is, it is about the Individual drive to do well. All JCs will enable our child to do well for A levels if they are driven. Just my personal opinion and hope it gives hope to others whose kids are not in “top tier” JC. It doesn’t matter...
My daughter, NYJC - 2019 A level Science 4 H2 6A Rank Point : 90/90. - 0 Tuition
:thankyou: MOE & NYJC
Hope it gives hope to others whose kids are not in “top tier” Tuition Centre (💰不够用) :rotflmao: -

yes, it’s heartening to see that kids can do well regardless which JC they are from.
don’t be discouraged, or hold back one’s efforts, even if one is not in a top JC. -

Perhaps moe should place IP students into mid tier JCs, monitor their performance.
The school management of the JCs all know the results profile of their students - but this is not disclosed, even to the wider teacher group. I would say, unless you have heard from a JC principal/ VP/ school leader, none of us actually authoritatively know the difference in level of performance between JAEs and IP students within each school.iRabbit\" post_id=\"2018011\" time=\"1616200250\" user_id=\"51587:
It's callous to label JAE students (w/o offering any concrete proof but pure conjecture I must add) as 2nd class citizens in our IP JC.
Even in the top classes in RJC (e.g. those offering double RA), there were JAE students who qualified and IP students who didn't.
What is a fact is that there is a very large degree of overlap and there will be many JAE students who outperform IP students, and vice versa. If the distinction was so clear cut and PSLE is such a definitive indicator of subsequent performance, then what is the point of JAE. I totally agree that in RI, HCI and all other IP JCs, the top classes will have a mix of JAE and IP students.
Im sure these JCs stds sure shoot up. -

Maybe should inject IP students into NYJC. Else forever NYJC dares not disclose NYJC’s 4H2 performance. Or can help NYJC clinch a couple of PSC Scholarships?
