Anybody know where can see for 2020 exercise (and 2019) the data for 2B and 2C for balloting BROKEN DOWN BY DISTANCE?

This is not provided by MOE. MOE only provides the number spaces avail, the number of applicants, then says balloting SC<1km. But doesnโ€™t say how many of the applicants are SC<1km.

          Pls help thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Nobody knows because MOE does not provide it.

Some individual schools would tell you on the phone. Youโ€™d have to call up every single school to compile such a chart. So nobody has done it.

If the data is not provided by MOE, no one else will know. Therefore, thereโ€™s no place to view such data.

Those at risk of balloting at 2A1
                CHIJ St. Nic (most likely)

                ROSYTH SCHOOL

Above table is ranked based on the number of applicants for Phase 2A(1) in 2020.

                  1. 8 popular schools are running a deficit for Phase 2A(1) in terms of vacancy vs last year.

                  2. If the numbers of applicants remain the same as 2020, the following schools are going to end up balloting:
CHS, SNGS, Rosyth. NYPS will be heng-heng just nice.

                  3. If the number of applicants increase by 5 per school this year (2021), the following schools (aka high risk group) will end up balloting:
NYPS, CHS, ATS, SNGS, Rosyth, PHPPS

If the number of applicants increase by 10, Nan Hua will join the ranks of the schools above.

                  4. Nan Hua and HPPS could potentially benefitted from an extra 16 and 19 places available compared to last year.

Notwithstanding, situation remains fluid since we canโ€™t tell the number of Phase 2A(2) applicants who may have jumped ranks to join in the Phase 2A(1) crowd this year. The schools above have a possible reservoir of up to 40 applicants that could be promoted from Phase 2A(2) to Phase 2A(1). Keep an eye out for them!

It is interesting that some of the yet to open MKs are going into schools that are already (relatively) popular in the region (Bedok, Bukit Merah, Hougang, Jurong West regions in general plus Princess Elizabeth and Gongshang within their respective region) whereas others have been cited into existing schools with relatively low take-up. I understand (or at least I think I do ๐Ÿ˜‚ ) the areas like Punggol or Sengkang; it would probably be fine to build out the MK in every other school (as long as geographically diverse within the region) but for some others I'm not really sure how specific schools were selected (either newer HDBs that are likely to have school age kids nearby or just schools that have space and are able to accommodate the MK classes?). I assume they do not release the MK enrollment by school? I.e. the aggregative stats on enrollment and 2A2 registration is all that's available.

Regardless, interested to see how the take-up evolves for some of the schools that are not super popular already (i.e. does MK and changes to 2C make these schools relatively more attractive).

                        1. MK@Gongshang isn't an entirely new-new MK, it's a relocation of the existing void deck MK@Tampines (not to be confused with the new MK in Tampines Primary). Hence, Gongshang's MK children could already be factored in this year's numbers (which probably explains why their Phase 2A2 numbers went from an average of 30+ to 61 this year.

                        2. Punggol, Sengkang are typically new schools. Hence, MOE could incorporate MK into the build (most of the MK have separate building / facilities). MK in the existing schools, I suspect, are using repurposed facilities / classrooms / buildings, what ever that can be made available.

If you have noticed, the (existing) schools that will have a MK set up have already started to reduce their intake by around 40 to 70 places yearly (including popular schools like Princess Elizabeth, Temasek) since a few years ago. Hence, MK could be providing more than a pre-school education purpose: making better and more efficient use of the physical resources in some schools, and P1 registrants could be better distributed among all schools (instead of a few schools hogging them, or having to close more schools on order to concentrate them).

                        3. MOE only releases MK enrolment by year but not by school. Their current enrolment average out to be about 100 per MK, while their projected figure for 60 MK works out to be about 140 per MK. Their press releases typically state that each MK can take in about 120 K1 children, which probably isn't too far off.

                        4. Haven't scrutinised the data in great detail but I am hypothesising:
New school in new town + new MK = popular
Established school + new MK = status quo, i.e. if school is popular, it will be popular, else meh

So far, haven't seen any data that suggest that the presence of MK will change a school's status from not popular to popular.
