I will not let my kiddo go for mRNA vaccines like Pfizer and Moderna.

I will however let my kiddo go for inactivated whole virus vaccines like Sinovac and Sinopharm.

I will also let kiddo go for protein subunit vaccines like Novavax.

I am not putting something into my youngsters that tricks the body's own cells into making proteins that in turn trick the body's immune system into attacking the body's own cells. Old fogeys like me are a different story.

I have concern over the quality control of Sinovac vaccine given the vastly different efficacy results between various countries.

Moreover I find it astonishing that the company do not seems to put effort to test their own vaccines and cannot even produce their own results for review by MOH. All these are red OB markers.

No lah, last year, Feb 2020, we also had a VJC teacher case. Subsequently, more school pupils were reported by media & MOE. You forgot liao!

Anglican High School, CHIJ Katong Convent, CHIJ St. Theresa’s Convent, Geylang Methodist Secondary School, Hwa Chong Institution, Bedok View Secondary School, East Spring Primary School, Jurong West Primary School and Jurong West Secondary School, Assumption English School teacher.

Last year, OYK didn't really have to worry much because the 2019 Wuhan strain wasn't that transmissible, so there were not many kiddo cases to bother him. All enrichment centres were unscathed. 😓

These 2 months, we have B1617.2 which is highly transmissible, so you of course will see more transparent and comprehensive reporting by media, MMTF & MOE.

And in case you have not been following closely, Edgefield Sec student was confirmed 30 April. LP tutor was confirmed 8 May. Then on 14 May, 2 St Stephens, 2 Kong Hwa, 1 SAS Jr were confirmed.

I deliberately put the dates for your reference, so that you can see the names of schools were revealed and reported by LW, the previous Education Minister before 15 May 2021, who continued with MMTF/OKY's practice of transparent case reporting on school pupil/teacher cases 🙂

Are you sure those guys are not media savvy? On the contrary, I think they are all highly media savvy wor! It's all campaign at work to get parents' buy-in. Many other countries like the US, UAE and Qatar have already authorised the vaccine for 12-15 year olds. HK just said 2 days ago they are also thinking of letting the 12-15 year olds take Pfizer. You need to be media savvy to know you need to build a good case. And more cases will give you a strong case! :siam:

Hope you understand Pa's intentions too! :boogie:
The context under which the schools were mentioned is quite different as the cases in Jun 2020 were surfaced by MOE’s extended surveillance testing and the conclusion was that these students contracted covid-19 during CB and were no longer infectious plus they were picked up proactively. It painted MOE (and by extension OYK) in a good light, pro-active and assuring

To clarify, the Learning Point teacher showed symptoms on 3rd May was only a confirmed case on 12 May and not 8 May.

It may be inevitable that the schools will get mentioned each time a student is found to be infected. The trick is not to overly associate the schools with the infection and keep repeating the message that students don’t get infected in schools. So in this context, a Straits Times headline that says “37 students in 25 schools” is a faux pas to say the least. A better (and perhaps more factual way) to put it is “37 students infected in XX tuition centres”

Again context is important in sharing about the advertisement. It’s nostalgic playback when a few aged folks were waiting to be vaccinated for covid-19 but how to justify to children when the mRNA vaccine has no track record in terms of the long term impact? Remember asbestos? Asbestos was approved for use in buildings worldwide for decades before being discovered belatedly that it could cause debilitating lung disease. But the damage has already been inflicted on generations of workers and dwellers.

Papa’s intentions for covid-19 vaccination for children is simple, do no harm, be conservative, take the proven route of deactivated virus vaccine as the long term risks matter and god knows like asbestos, the side effects may only be discovered a decade later

I was wondering why in one of the earlier articles the mother had to pack 6 bags just for 2 people going to the QO hotel.

Now after several days of HBL and Zoom tuition, I think know why. Need to bring entire schoolbag plus all the tuition printouts, assessment books etc. Laptops and chargers etc.

                  Staycation my foot.

                      Another gd read.

For Airport, it is reasonable to assume that some old uncles and aunties working as cleaners etc may not know to well protect themselves against the virus. What about the medically trained in hospital? Surely they know about the virus and hence shld be better protect themselves more than the laymen.
