Is there a website where one can check on the current clusters and their number of infected?
The news said the JEM/Westgate is the 2nd largest cluster after Changi Airport ???
This should explain the Jem/WG cluster.

What caught my eye was that the possible source of infection for JEMS/Westgate, was from a cleaner who worked at a SHN facility.

Over at Changi Airport cluster, the first to be confirmed was also a cleaner (an 88yo uncle).
And out of 43 airport staff who caught covid, 12 of them were cleaners. That’s quite a lot! And of the 12 cleaners, only 6 have been fully vaccinated.

So currently, the biggest and 2nd biggest clusters had something to do with cleaners? The old aunties/uncles aren’t protected well enough because cleaning is outsourced to the companies with lowest quote?

Guarding the airport (ground zero) is utmost important. But from the JEMS/Westgate episode, the lesson learnt is that it’s equally important to make sure no cleaner/staff leaks the covid virus into the community from these SHN facilities! Someone should keep an eye on the details to prevent such oversight to cause the next wave.

I am not trying to discredit anyone but no matter how tight the SMMs are, it all boils down to individuals to strictly observe it. How many times have we seen smokers huddling around maskless and chit-chatting at the obscure smoker’s corner.

Hmm I wonder if these are the people getting Covid-19.

I feel very sad for the cleaners....they have been disproportionately infected.

I agree. There have been SHN facilities operating for more than a year, and the airport has been receiving arrivals for months. Any recent leakage is more likely from a human lapse, Covid fatigue or whatever you want to call it, in following protocols, rather than that the protocols are not strict enough. It's good that they have tightened protocols even more to try to prevent similar lapses, but if individuals don't follow, there is only so much the authorities can do. And in a way, it means that many people who don't really need that level of policing have to bear with it because of some who are likely to lapse without that policing.

The main difference should be a more transmissible variant of the virus, from a \"country that cannot be named\" and subsequently landed on our shore.

If even the hospital cannot prevent the transmission, how likely is it that a \"cleaner\" with limited medical knowledge and having to labor to clean SHN rooms that have been inhibited for 14 days can. Don't forget that there are people who claims that they cannot \"breath\" even when brisk walking with mask. How is it that we can expect a cleaner who must vacuum and scrub the toilet can do it with PPE on 100% of the time with no slips in between. The 53 year old cleaner, case 62933 have also been fully vaccinated, receiving her first dose on 24 Jan 2021 and her second dose on 16 Feb 2021.

Sometimes in the newspapers, but I don't know if there is a website that tracks this closely daily.

I think the reason the Jem/Westgate cluster has grown so big is that some of the other smaller clusters may have been linked to it, and there were 6 new cases reported yesterday. Not suprising considering that so many people go to Jurong East and cross paths. I can't actually figure out the clusters as the way things are reported isreally not easy to decipher. I don't know if MOH intentionally does this, or it's just poor reporting. Some poor journalist will have to untangle it all and make a graphic, I guess.

Needless to say, there must be lapses and flaws that is why CAG announced that those flying in from high risk countries must now be segregated from the rest.
Plus from now on, all cleaners must be fully vaccinated and given PPE and trained etc. to protect themselves.

Sometimes staff / human lapse could also mean from top down, management didn’t walk the ground or do enough spot checks? LOL.

Yes, for the past 15 months, there wasn’t any major leakage at the airport but that’s because the old variant is less transmissible. But we can read from newspapers that over at India, the country is like in a state of crisis already and even SG netizens also know how to call out for temporary closure of the borders etc. How can the CAG not sense the impending danger and could only lamely claim that they now know the virus is more transmissible?
I now understand what the netizens always said, our leaders are reactive and not proactive.
