In case you did not know. TT app does not drain iPhone battery (not any more, after the update ages ago).

So there’s no need to turn off your Bluetooth after u do the obligatory check in.

If you’re turning it off becos u don’t like to be traced, that’s another matter of course (and entirely your legal right. I think).

It still uses up quite fast as it requires your data-roaming to be turned on at all times. Mine's the latest 5G android HP, so battery's very powerful.

Privacy-wise I'm ok, as I do not visit Spa 9 or the like or that kind of sleazy places 🙂

I only turn on when I check in and out a specific shop or F&B. Anything in between, I don't.

I do not believe I'd get the virus from transient masked-up pedestrians walking past me in 2 seconds, so why do i need my bluetooth to ''exchange'' with theirs?

I also don't think it's necessary to leave my bluetooth on while I'm having my 1.5 hour-long dinner. Why do I want so many ''exchanges'' with transient waiters and patrons around me in the restaurant?

If my restaurant kena a case, I will be alerted with ''Possible Exposure'', as I've already checked in at the entrance.

MOH takes a tiered approach when it comes to advising users who could have interacted with a COVID-19 case:

          - If the risk of infection is assessed to be low: Users are informed via the Possible exposure feature, for self-monitoring.

          - If the risk of infection is assessed to be high (e.g. you're a Close contact based on TraceTogether's Bluetooth proximity records): MOH will call you to understand the nature of the contact and advise on the relevant measures you should take.

TL;DR: Possible exposure does not mean you're a Close contact of a COVID-19 case. If you had Close contact with a COVID-19 case, you would have received a call from MOH. We'll continually review the above process of informing users as the COVID-19 situation evolves 🙂

Inside MRT public transport, everyone sitting / standing inside the same train cabin, are strangers.

Suppose you board an MRT train in the morning, at Pasir Ris. Sitting right beside you is a stranger, infected with covid-19. But because you don't know that this fella has C-19, so u continue the MRT train journey all the way, to Pioneer station. Let's say this C-19 fella was still sitting beside you, when you alight at Pioneer station.

How long is the MRT ride, from Pasir Ris in the east, to Pioneer in the West? Roughly one hour ?

In this case, since the MRT ride is so long close to an hour, will you receive a phone call from MOH, informing that need to come down for a swab test, because you happen to sit beside an infected C-19, assuming you have a token inside your hand bag ?

In this MRT scenario, I don’t think MOH will ask you to go for swab. Based on what coast pasted earlier, I believe MOH will call your phone to check/clarify what type of contact you had. If it’s merely sitting next to him and both masked up, with what the Minister of Transport claimed is well-ventilated/well-replenished air in the MRT cabin, maybe they will assess it to be low risk of transmission.

Unless you recall exactly which date & time taking that train & which guy next to you kept wiping his runny nose & coughing with mask pulled down (very unlikely u know exactly who is the Covid case). Then maybe you’re worried and can self-volunteer to go for swab just to know.

Those “Possible exposure” seen inside the TT app, just need to self-monitor your own health at home. If got symptoms, then go see doctor & get further advice.

Based on my limited knowledge (I may be wrong):-

Before May 17 (TraceTogether token/app not compulsory)
There is no check in when we take public transport (MRT, bus, ...). Public transport is also not included in the list of places frequented by Covid-19 cases. So I believe it will not appear as Possible exposure and also unlikely identified as Close contact.

                  May 17 onwards (TraceTogether-only SafeEntry)
TraceTogether Token (and TraceTogether App) only captures proximity data via Bluetooth technology and does not capture GPS / geolocation data. Even though it is compulsory to use TraceTogether, we are still required to check in at places for speedier contact tracing to identify close contacts. I may be wrong but since there is no check in for public transport (MRT, bus, ...), it will not appear as Possible exposure and also unlikely identified as Close contact.

                  Stay safe!

TraceTogether app and token are used to tap into locations like buildings, malls, shops etc. So maybe it’s not just bluetooth but they also collect geolocation data? Or am I wrong?

I did recall a Minister saying there is no locatiin data collected/ stored on TT. Am now slightly confused

While this FAQ is based on the old SafeEntry, I believe it also applies to the new SafeEntry Gateway. The two (TraceTogether and check-in via SafeEntry Gateway) have to work together to increase the speed and accuracy of contact tracing.

TraceTogether (app or token) helps MOH identify people who were in close proximity with COVID-19 cases during the infectious period, while SafeEntry helps COVID-19 cases remember the places that they've been to so that MOH can spot potential clusters. These two systems work together to increase the speed and accuracy of MOH's contact tracing efforts.

                      Stay safe!

DH’s colleague was put on QO after TT token showed that she (and her mother) sat near to a confirmed case at a coffeeshop . However, her mother who was sitting next to her, wasn’t given a QO because the mother did not bring her TT token to the coffeeshop ! :scratchhead:

And because this colleague is now on QO, 10 colleagues who came into contact with her were put on LOA. The office is suddenly short of 11 pax manpower.
