Thank u so much for the comprehensive write up about the school really appreciate it. @Surfergal that was actually my concern, therefore I’m having a dilemma on whether should I try balloting at phase 2B within 1k. or should I go PLMGS straight. Think i would most likely go for MGS at phase 2B and if we couldn’t get in we will go for PLMGS at Phase 2C within 1km.

Sorry you can’t do both MGS 2b1 and PLMGS 2c1 one after another, how could you be living within 1km of both schools? Also by phase 2c of PLMGS, I think beyond 2km would be trying your luck there might be a chance of balloting. How are you strategizing this in this case?

Yes, have !
Hi,
May I ask if there are anyone whom transfer from RGPS to MGS? Are the chances slim?
Based on past years' number of Transfer cases,
Transfer from RGPS, to MGS primary :-
1)
Transfer took place, at the end of P2.
Very few, single digit, less than 5, per year. (Example : in Year 2014 end of P2, born 2007)
Candidates' quality must be very good, before MGS willing to offer & take you in for Transfer, at end of P2.
Besides good in academic, under the past years' old Tscore Psle system, if you happen to excel in a Cca which MGS primary desire, better still !
( clue / hint )
2)
Transfer took place, at the end of P3, onwards.
More !
Depend on the Total number of seats released, when the MGS students got transferred out of MGS,
after sitting for 2 round of their P3 GEP tests,
went for RGPS (GEP) programme, the other way round instead or went to other remaining 8 GEP centre.
That's when MGS seats are released, because pupils got transferred out of MGS,
hence
got vacancies arise now, for end of P3 (RGPS or from other primary schools) newcomers seeking Transfer into MGS, starting their P4 journey.
Some of these pupils wish to reduce Psle burden as much as they can, thus seeking affliation to MGS Secondary (O level programme)
However,
there is No affliation,
for MGS (IB programme) students where come Year 5 (IB), MGS girls cross over to ACSI school ground premises, to complete their final last 2 years IB educational journey.
As MGS Secondary is an Independent school, whether aiming for 4 years MGS (O-level) or for 6 years MGS (IB), the school fees paid is around $300+, per month. -
Hi All,
my daughter is born in 2017 and we are already anxious about her P1 registration.
we have submitted the Pei Hwa Alumni form for Pei Hwa presbyterian primary school (her father graduated from the school). if they approve it, then it will be phase 2A1 (likely still subject to balloting).
But we really wish my daughter to go to MGS and we live within 1km. I am trying to apply the PV next year and heard it will be lower chances to get it. if it for the MGS, then will be phase 2C (SC within 1km).
We will register her in Pei Hwa in Phase 2A1 and then we have to risk all to withdrawal from Pei Hwa to apply for MGS for phase 2C in MGS. If we don’t get the spot in MGS, can we apply again to Pei Hwa ?
Any parents could share thoughts? really appreciated. -

If you are saying that assuming you get thru to PHPPS in Phase 2A1, you are going to sit back and relax, what you are doing now would make sense. However, if you are going to risk it all and apply to MGS come what may, save your $$$. There’s no need to apply to PHPPS alumni association. MGS is guaranteed to ballot for SC < 1km in Phase 2C.

Given that PHPPS is also going to ballot for SC < 1km in Phase 2C. That means there will be no space left for Phase 2CS. Hence, if you are going to risk it all for MGS, you will have to consider a backup school, BTPS etc, for your Phase 2CS. -

Once you withdraw from Pei Hwa Presbyterian primary under Phase 2A1 ( alumni), to let your SC daughter ballot in MGS less than 1 km distance bracket,
Hi All,

your seat in Pei Hwa primary is automatically given up to someone else, the moment you withdraw !
You cannot go back to Pei Hwa anymore, because by withdrawing from the school, you indicated that you have chosen to give up Pei Hwa !
Assuming that your balloting in Phase 2C < 1 km in MGS is successful, Congratulations, because MGS is what you have desired (wanted), all along !
Otherwise,
you can try balloting under Phase 2C Supplementary for Marymount Convent primary / Bukit Timah primary or any other primary schools, that still happen to have remaining vacancies available in Phase 2CS.
Thus, it is not advisable to withdraw from Pei Hwa.
The balloting outcome, everything, hinges on how lucky you are, on that actual Phase 2C balloting day itself.
Instead, you may consider Transfer, from Pei Hwa to MGS primary, at the end of Primary 2, provided
- your daughter is strong in a Cca , which MGS greatly desire ! Google MGS school website, see what Ccas MGS offer.
+
- your daughter's overall holistic performance in Pei Hwa is good, in both (P1 and P2).
Again,
because other parents may also do likewise, ie. also seek Transfer at the end of their P2, your daughter might be competing with other P2 candidates from other primary schools, by then. That is a separate matter -
why would you give up a 2A1 top tier high chance to try for 2C random luck lucky draw in another school? seriously?

Hello parents,
I would like to find out a bit more about the netball CCA at MGS Primary, in terms of training days and other info. Is there any parent who could PM and share some details? Thank you so much, appreciate it!
