This!! 👇🏽 Thank u very much.

Hope this post can close the debate on COP. it is actually not as complicated as made out to be, and worst of all, calculations of Tscore from raw score has been quite erroneously assumed.

Wish all parents/kids have peace of mind during their choice of schools. 🙏🏽

      lassie girl\" post_id=\"2041562\" time=\"1633848586\" user_id=\"35383:
I have been a silent reader on this platform for some years now, having had children under both the T score and the new AL. It is interesting to note how parents with no prior knowledge and experience regarding the old psle t score can use their limited knowledge to link the t score to the new AL. It is clear from MOE’s published info (and many KS parents from this forum have pointed out as well) that the last t score student of a particular school may not be equivalent to the AL cut off in MOE’s simulation. It has been known that t score is the addition of each subjects’ t score, which is a factor of the bell curve and the cohorts strength/averages. Personally I have also heard (from some educators although this info was never verified or confirmed by official sources) of how the A stars might have been moved year on year, ie eg A* may or may not be 91 and above, depending on difficulty of paper. Since we can never know the raw score of papers under the old t score system, we can never link them to the new AL system or make any correct predictions out of it. Instead of wasting time and energy misleading and confusing each other, let’s aim to spend our time wisely. What we can do right now for our first batch of AL kids is to have a game plan where we narrow down with them the school choices and ranking, taking into considerations our kids’ preferences and strengths and what the matching school has to offer - this is also a form of bonding during this free time where we have an open communication with our children on their goals and aspirations for the new journey ahead.
My girl is currently doing her 4th year in SOTA. It a good school but the student must really like what she has clearly demonstrated as her skill or talent, prior to being selected for the school.

T-score is over, we just keep it simple.

Come Nov when PSLE results are out, setup a poll for all 29 (4-32) possible AL scores.

The KS community can help one another by indicating the score of their P6 child/children truthfully and anonymously. A high participation rate will give us an idea of the % distribution of the AL scores for 2021 cohort. This way, we can make an informed decision when choosing the secondary schools and hopefully avoid balloting.

For parents interested in IP schools for their child, take note that around 4,000 Sec 1 students enter the IP each year, which is roughly 10% of the PSLE cohort. The top 1/3 of this group who are Singapore citizens qualify for ESIS which is about 3% of the cohort. The poll results will help you to decide on the odds of getting into IP.
Very interesting comment. Not very sure how to set up this \"poll\" yet. Won't we have to list all the secondary schools also for parents to state their choice schools?

            All the information is here:
            https://www.moe.gov.sg/-/media/files/news/press/2021/annex-d-psle-2021.pdf

The following (in italics) is from the PDF and is different from the website. That's why I wrote to them.

Honestly, we've just taken a time machine back to May of this year. My wife did prefer yesterday when KSP was down. In fact, she wishes the site was permanently down every day. :rotflmao:

The indicative PSLE Score ranges for individual secondary schools were then generated based on the PSLE Scores of the first student and the last student who would have been posted into the school under the simulation

Regardless, like others I do agree with your forward looking suggestion.

Everyone enjoy the rest of your Sunday. Back to school for the Primary kids tommorrow!

I don't really know how you interpreted that original PDF file or how you came up with the idea that AL COP is based on some super-advanced simulator that is powered by some AI algorithm capable of guessing how to entire 37,000-38,000 P6 cohort students and parents will apply during S1 posting.

From the onset, I already knew this was not the case because the simplest and most reliable simulation is simply to track the actual student's AL equivalent using raw scores. Furthermore, why would MOE waste its resources to design a human-like simulator which will be made redundant once 2021 S1 posting is over?

Most have given up but I guess I'm the only :stupid: :stupid: :stupid: ). I've posted the question I sent to MOE and their reply. And they don't need a super computer or AI to run what I mentioned.

#1. Took 2020 Actual PSLE Raw Marks and Converted to AL Terms.
                  #2. Took 2020 Actual S1 Option Forms
#3. Post all AL4s to a school based on their S1 Option Form, then AL5s, etc, etc, etc
#4. See when the school is full. That's the Indicative AL COP.

My last reply on this topic. Thank you and good luck to your child with the PSLE Results and S1 Posting.

To all the 2021 PSLE parents, I apologize if all of my posts seem like constant arguing. In contrast, I just trying to highlight what I've gathered from the information that's been released and what I clarified with MOE (because it wasn't clear to me and it has implications for what one assumes about balloting). Today's conversation was pretty friendly but at some point there's no need to go on any further; we can all just believe what we want to believe.

Hope all of your kids enjoy the last month of primary school, and good luck with the results/posting exercise. :xedfingers: :xedfingers:

                      Oh, that's good to know!

My daughter got CO via theatre. She prefers joining SOTA. She's been interested in drama/ theatre since P3. Her primary school has a good drama programme, so it helped.

Her reasoning for wanting to go SOTA is, she wants to learn more about theatre, wants to understand the back stage stuff, the theoretical stuff also. She thinks she will not study theatre in Uni, so this is the opportunity to learn more.

Of course, any school via DSA, we can't say what's going to happen. Even non-DSA also same. Growing age, don't know how kids' interests will change, so just need go with the flow I guess and hope that what we decide now will be OK for the next 6 years. 😄
