      Hi parents,

I’m not sure if I can ask here about the IP track here. I like to hear from parents with girls doing IP programs in this school, like how is the workload, teachers support etc? Thanks!
Workload is manageable. My daughter finishes work before dinner. School ends by 2pm, so your daughter should get home by 3pm door to door. Depending on which part of SK you are at, you can take bus+bus, which may end up in front of your home, in case you dont live opposite the mrt.

This question about teachers support is hard to answer. I have not really spoken to the teachers myself but the feeling I get is that they are approachable and well-liked by the students. Many of them are former students. They dont call me to talk about academic or social life, neither do I call them to ask about the same. They will probably call if there is a problem and I am happy they dont call me. 😂

Your daughter should have many seniors here, so she can also ask them. The students in the school would know best, esp if parents are no longer hands on in sec school.

Higher Chinese is compulsory in IP. Not a big deal but just writing it down. You take the O level Higher Chinese exam at sec 4.

        Hi MerlionInGermany,

I’m so thankful to have response from you! I didn’t see much conversation here regarding IP in this school. My girl is super keen to put it as her choice. Can I asked you a few more things?

        1) what is their typical reporting time in the morning?

        2) is the girls require to use iPad or laptop in school? Do they have textbook for IP?

        3) Is their promotion criteria very tough for IP? I understand for year 5/6 they go over to Eunoia JC.

        4) is your girl happy in terms of school culture and friends? My girl is from another IJ primary, not st Nick primary school.

        5) lastly, do you find the girls in IP needs tuition to cope or the school gives enough support in academic?

        Thanks!!!

I guess there isnt much discussion here prob because we dont do/ dont need to do much marketing :siam:

          1) 730am everyday.
          2) iPad, under the National Digital Literacy Programme (NDLP) . Textbooks - chinese yes, lit yes, geo yes, history yes, maths yes.
          3) Not tough. But this question is so subjective.
          4) Very happy. I didnt think she is from st nicks pri, I can guess which IJ, and if I am right, there are many seniors from her school who are in St Nicks. Many from Faith are here. Anyway this happy or not depends on the individual, in every school, there will be happy and not happy ones, it is not possible that every single student is happy or unhappy.
          5) No, they do not need tuition to cope, but what is “cope”? The teachers are definitely there if you need to ask questions, I dont think they will ignore you, but are there people going for tuition? Yes there are. There are not enough St Nicks students going for tuition to form school specific classes at the big centers, if that is any gauge.

Teachers come and go. The caring one may not teach you. The biased one may teach you but he/she is biased towards you, so that’s a good thing too? 😂

I suggest going to each of the schools to see them. You cant go in but the feeling of seeing the school is very different. A friend of mine brought his rgps daughter to mgs and she didnt like the religious stuff she saw. She went to Nanyang and got a shock of her life upon seeing the chinese words and building, etc . Whether the school starts at 7 or 8 or 9, whether they use textbooks, is all irrelevant

I just asked my daughter, she says there is nothing. There is no such period in the timetable.

                    Hi

I missed the e-open House dialogue. May I know how many classes of O levels triple, double and combined Science typically in S3?
And for affiliation, I understand we do not need to indicate affiliation in the selection form, right? The system will pick up the affiliation by itself, as long as we indicate the school in the 1st choice?
                    :thankyou:

The system will pick up, yes.

                      Method 1
                      1. Sngs ip
                      2. Sngs o

                      Method 2
                      1. Sngs O

Both methods above will ensure you get considered for affiliation entry for O level stream.

No combined science. Usually total 6 classes. Triple science number varies. I used to follow and find that the number really varies so I can only imagine it depends on demand. Also for double science, some years there are more phy chem, some years there are more bio chem. This year sec 4 O, there is a class with 10 subjects - 3 science 3 humanities. And so they actually sit for 11 exams since the combined humanities is social studies and something else. I dont know how they study 😓
