Congratulations for receiving PSLE results today,
hope everyone is happy with their results :rahrah:

My DD got AL 8
Her school choices are

Nanyang Girls COP’21 =7
CHIJ St Nicholas (IP) COP’21 =7
CHIJ St Nicholas (Exp) COP’21 =9
SCGS COP’21 =8
MGS COP’21 =7
Cedar girls COP’21 =8

What do you think of these choices are they too confident choices or still worth trying?
(My DD status is foreigner, no HCL)
How to strategies and rank the priorities on these 6 high profiles girl schools?
Let’s say all these 6 schools don’t accept her, then what will happen?
Need some enlightment here ^_^ pls help

Is Dunman High School IP 4(D)-8(D)and River Valley High School 4(D)-9(M) still possible for her?

PR application ask if ones go to IP school or not,
Is going to IP school has better chance to get PR for students?

The revised “dream schools” now are: :imcool:

SCGS IP 5-8
Cedar IP 4-8
SCGS O level 7-8
CHIJ St Nic O level 4(M) - 9(M)
MGS O level 4-8
CHIJ Toa Payoh (for safety) 7-10

So far what do you think of these choices and how we should rank them?
(Sch fee differences and distance to school are now the least factors for our considerations)

What’s your second language? Chinese?

As I mention, citizenship is the first tie breaker. As a foreigner, any school with a COP of 8 is as good as a close door but you can hope and try. First, you have to navigate pass the SC, then the SPR before you have a small bite of the cherry. Anecdotal evidences and info suggest that most schools in that range are balloting among the SC.

Assuming the school will ballot at 8 for foreigners, the choice rank tie breaker will come into play. How is being the 3rd or 4th choice going to help you? Your 3rd and 4th choice (whatever) they are, are very likely to be just space filler.

Your most likely posted school, based on the info, is either SNGS (O) or CHIJ TP if the COP remains the same as per last year. Beyond the first choice and as long as SNGS (O) and CHIJ TP are among the options, it probably doesn’t really matter how you want to arrange the rest of the schools, since they are only there for the purpose of taking up space and for betting on that one of them has COP moving up to 9.

Assuming this year’s COP remains the same as last year’s, and your top 3 choices are SCGS IP, SCGS O and MGS O, I think the chances of your daughter getting in the above 3 are slim. For your 4th choice, pick one with COP 9 or 10.

Based on last year’s experience, most who are on COP borderline got balloted out due to significantly more applicants than vacancies. Really depends on one’s luck. I have a feeling MGS IB will move up by 1pt and this may indirectly cause MGS O level to be pushed up by 1pt too.

Maybe you can update us about your DD’s sec 1 posting result. We will cheer for you

As of now, you only need to consider which school is the first choice, SNGS O as the 5th and CHIJ TP ( ) as the 6th. The rest you can either arrange in alphabetical order, proximity or your preferred colour, doesn’t really matter since you are only really hoping for COP to jump to 9.

Hi and congrats. The ordering makes sense, although no one can really tell you the chances to get in 1st/2nd choice. Last year ACS(I) IP seems to have ballot at first choice. NJC was also COP of AL7 but unclear whether it ballot at 1st choice too.

Just make sure in the 4th - 6th slot there are some (not necessarily all three) AL9+ schools for safety.
