i also understand every school will def hv gd and bad teachers. but if there is more bad than gd teachers, then i m worried. esp if the prinicipal turns a blind eye. i hv went for the orientation talks and all with the new principal. does not seem she is academically driven, focus more on mental well being (quite similar to previous principal). but why can't both go hand in hand? why must sacrifice results to hv gd mental well being or the other way round? A gd principal shd able to balance both
Mental well being is Top most critical concern for Teenagers, in Secondary schools nowadays because

we do not want them to inflict self harm upon themselves nor have suicidal thoughts, or do anything disaster / create tragedy. Recall that River Valley (RV) sad tragedy where a Sec 1 boy was \"axed\" inside the toilet, by an older boy ? The RV Principal back then, couldn't take it anymore because this tragedy happened when she was the school P back then, hence she requested to resign.

That's why in order to calm down Teenagers, reduce academic stress, tension, go slow, slow down the pace ...

my gal is hardworking though at times need a bit of pushing. i m thinking in the maybe lack of resources on the school and not gd teaching standard, will my gal still be able to progress academically? if u just look at the RP admission criteria for local uni these says, the competition is so intense. even courses that used to be be so easy to get in with B now req straight A or RP> 85. hence the worry as a parent.

then what could cause the drop in the results? is it the JAE cohort raw score (not nett score) is higher than other similar ranked JC? i dun know.do note that JAE cohort is larger than the IP cohort.

i hv taken a look at the JH1 school notes, not very impressed. i hv another child in HCI and i would say their notes r more comprehensive

i just feel that my daughter made a very bad decision on her part despite me trying to convince her to go to nygh. and if her chosen school does not provide adequate resources n not gd teaching stds, that we hv to borrow or buy notes fr other schools to study. then maybe she shd hv just gone to the better school, defeats the purpose of her staying in her chosen school. u all get what I mean? but it was a bad decision made n we r stuck with it now, and so hard to reverse the decision
If NYGH can offer her a vacancy now, then exit out fast ! Otherwise, bear with it until end of (Sec 1 or Sec 2). If Sec 2, take their entrance admission tests and then exit (transfer out), before she start Upper Sec 3. But u must also check her emotional state of mind, whether she herself want to transfer or stay put.

I think you should give your child and the school a chance. It would have been a joint decision when the school selection was submitted. Cannot push everything to the child. She must have good reasons when she opted for njc. So trust her.

MOE has put a very senior Principal to head NJC. It is in good hands.

My DD met the COP for NYGH and MGS for her year but opted for another school with a lower COP. How things pan out depends a lot on the child. She enjoyed and grew a lot in character and maturity in sec school, beyond what we could have imagined. Kids who are motivated will find good company and peers to journey with in school even if not an absolute top school.

Give NJC some time and your daughter a chance to find her footing and opportunities to develop herself in the school.
