Below is the balloting status for both schools in recent years for your info.

      Paya Lebar Methodist Girls
      Phase 2C
2022\t110 applied for 81 places, cut off at <1km
      2021\t105 applied for 62 places, ballot <1km
2020\t109 applied for 81 places, cut off at <1km
      2019\t108 applied for 88 places, ballot 1-2km

      Holy Innocent’s High School
      Phase 2C
      2022\t101 applied for 42 places, ballot <1km
      2021\t65 applied for 21 places, ballot <1km
      2020\t81 applied for 43 places, ballot <1km
      2019\t72 applied for 47 places, ballot <1km

If you are not success in Phase 2C, there are still places in Montfort Junior, Xinghua and Yio Chu Kang under Phase 2C(S) based on Year 2022 data.[/quote]
Good chance to get into PLMGS at 81/110. Backups would be Xinghua and Yio Chu Kang primary, under Phase 2C(S). All the best!

Wow!! Thanks for the info! It’s very helpful. Seems like plan B is out. So when it says 110 applied for 81 slots, these 110 are a mixture of distances from school and that all within 1 km entered the school for 2022 (monkey year babies) ? 2017 birthrate was supposedly low, hopefully that is to my advantage then! I’m just putting my hope in this one. Cross fingers and pray!! :xedfingers:

That's a perennial question. MOE never says if the applicants are all under a certain distance. But if balloting happens for those <1km, and given that schools normally call up those who have no chance to even enter the balloting before the last day of the submission, it is likely that most, if not all of those undergoing balloting are <1km.

If balloting happens >1km, then the number would include those <1km, so those who have to ballot will actually balloting under different odds.

Oh. Ok, when u say balloting happens for >1km, all the <1km get in first and the >1km will ballot for the number of vacancies left? This is also assuming all are SC first right? PR or foreigner who stay within 1km also do not fall into this category yet.

Since Im within 1km I was thinking overall chances are pretty ok, except if the rooster baby girls decided to try for this school then we’re in trouble. Plus i have been trying to get to do PV for years already but they stopped it.

My last kid got into to his primary school because the school cut off at <1km SC so we avoided all balloting. I didnt have a plan B then and i also dont know what plan B I can have now.
Her dad was from nan hua, but with the new distancing rules for alumni also pointless to even try.

In all likelihood, you will need a backup even if you are SC < 1km because the chances for balloting is very high, given the developments nearby. You will have to consider some of the other schools mentioned for Phase 2CS.

This breaks me out in cold sweat. The only one available for us in phase 2CS Would be xinghua.

That is right. So if X is the number of folks <1km, then those balloting will only be (Applicants - X)/(Places - X). But since X is not released publicly, we may never know what the chance really is.

I see. You got your son in an all boys school? Then you will have to go through the headache again. Good luck!

Yup, i was within 1km, my guess is that is why the school didnt respond to my application for PV anyway. He is a tiger year baby, that may explain the chances. Sajs was quite popular so i was lucky. Now daughter… argh.

                      Hi All,

The 1KM sch near me are Ai Tong Primary and Catholic Primary. And between 1KM to 2KM, i am looking at Kuo chuan primary school. No affliates and PV.
Based on last year statistics, which scholl has higher chance ?

And Phase 2C has more slots now ?

                      Thank you.

Ai Tong was oversubscribed for those <1km at 205%.
Catholic High was oversubscribed for those <1km at 170%.
Kuo Chuan was oversubscribed for those 1-2km at 128%.

Remember for oversubscription at 1-2km, this excludes the ones who didn't have to ballot because they are <1km. So for KCPS, that 128% is misleading. For example, if 128 people are applying for 100 places, of which 99 are under 1km, then these people will not need to bid. So it will be 29 people balloting for that last remaining place! This, of course is the worst case scenario, but we will never know as MOE does not release detailed information on the bidding process.
