I think the balloting is done on Friday morning and parents should get an SMS on the same day 🙂 It's unlikely MOE would withhold the results until Monday.

As to how the balloting is done... who knows. I think very few people care.
The SMS typically comes 8am sharp on results day. I remember because everytime results day will have people mass leaving those whatapps / telegram chat groups for those prospective parents.

        @Chief asking for a friend :
You know the Subjects Offered listing in the MOE website?

What if the school doesn't offer a certain subject eg Foundation Chinese?

Does a child who have to drop to a Foundation Subject which is not in the \"Subjects Offered\" list have to leave that school during Subject selection at end of P4?

No need to leave the primary school.

But, the child may have to go to the next, closest nearby primary school that do conduct \"Foundation\" Chinese subject lessons, each week for lessons.

          For a start, perhaps,
          find out from
          either

          your kid's school Chinese HOD
          or

          call up MOE, directly :-

          1) ask, which is the closest, nearby primary school, to your current primary school, that happen to conduct \"Foundation\" Chinese lessons ?

          2) after found out the name of this primary school,
          then,

          call up this school directly,
request to speak to the Chinese HOD in charge.

Ask the Chinese HOD, every week from Monday to Friday :-

          a) Total, how many \"Foundation\" Chinese lessons are conducted, on per week basis ?

          b) which week day & timing, is it conducted, every week ?
Each lesson, duration how long ?

          c) how often, does this nearby primary school conduct Term tests, for \"Foundation Chinese \" ?

                My guess

                If 1 extra:
-could be the odd number left over.
                Example
                61 left after 2A —> 2b gets 20, 2c gets 41.

                If more than 1:
Say a child registered and got a place in 2A for school A. (Or even phase 1)

During final hour of 2B registration, cancelled the 2A for school A and applied school B.
(A couple of such examples will cause 2-3 extra in 2C.)

                Possible?

Could it be, someone registered in phase 1 (sibling phase), but withdrew in 2B to apply for another school, but system could not (too late to?) reflect the extra seat until 2C numbers are announced?

Cannot be. System update is immediate. I did that last year pull out phase 1 for phase 2c.

Sorry don’t understand what you mean by "losing massive number of places"?

Apologies, but there was a slight error in our calculation which has been corrected. Everything is in order. But there is indeed a number of schools which people has withdrawn from, and many of these are "elite" schools, like NYPS, Nan Chiau and Rosyth! And these happened before the start of Phase 2C, and we continue to see the withdrawals in Day 1 of Phase 2C. It is very strange to see people withdrawing from good schools, for eg. NYPS now has 3 withdrawals. In any case, there will be lots more applicants waiting in the background that will be very thankful.
