When my kids were young, I went on an \"enrichment blitz\". My DD's childcare alone was like $2k a month, and together with my son, they did taekwondo for 5 years, swimming for 3, chinese tuition at Molin for 6 years, piano for 2 years, Kumon for 2 years, speech and drama for 4 years (my daughter's passion
Qn: what do I need to do to create a poll?
We have 2 daughters, 5 yr and 1.5 yr ol. We stay in a 5 rm HDB at Yishun near Junction 9 area. We don't own a car and are not big spenders. Although I am not the main decision maker regarding education, I am concerned about the way money on education is spent as recently our younger one is enrolled into mindchamps too.
Presuming your spouse and you household combined income of 13k mthly (salary difference is 1k apart max), how much would you spend on childcare for 2 children, max.
). I didn't count the expenditure as I was earning quite a bit then, but it was a lot. Was it worth it? I'm not sure, but I've tried. The kids outgrew these things and by secondary money was spend on computers, mobiles, headsets, going out with friends, etc.
Just spend what you are comfortable with spending. No need to break the bank and try some fancy things just to keep up with the Jones. I find it more rewarding to do outings with the family and build everlasting bonds and memories. -
Agree with the above parent / user, I feel there’s no need to overdo it - spend what is comfortable and within your means (e.g. it’s not necessary to send your child for so many different types of classes / lessons or even enrol them into “premium” centres and facilities).
On this note, I recently chanced upon a centre that provides very affordable secondary and junior college tuition starting from only $30 for a 2 hour lesson.
Might be worth checking out if you have children that are at that age / still schooling.

It all comes down to balance. Simple family time or allowing children to pursue their own hobbies can often be just as beneficial for their development as a full schedule of classes.
