      Hi all

I came across this video on youtube that shows a few ways to help get your kids to stop crying during the airplane take-off and landing; and have ear problems.
It worked for my daughter (the method with jaw wriggling) on a recent trip. So, thought I’d share with everyone here too.
Saved me the embarassment of a crying kid on board the plane!

      Here’s the link:

Struggling is a fantastic tip! My son struggled with ear pressure on our first travel to Bali, and I wish I had seen that video sooner. I coupled the jaw-wriggling technique you recommended with some tips I read on https://flying411.com/
regarding when to take naps and refreshments during takeoff for our upcoming trip. worked flawlessly, and for the first time, our flight was quiet!

@zeit-033699 You make a really good point; it appears that the safest way to do internet banking these days is to use a secured home network.

@slmkhoo Thank you for the clarification; that makes sense! Then, I suppose, larger things like furniture would not be considered “expendable.”

A networking and sharing online session for parents who want to play a proactive role in their adult single child life partner journey Friday 8 Mar 8pm

It’s wonderful to see a session where parents can actively interact and talk about helping their adult children find a life partner; it sounds intriguing.

Oh wow, very nice and interesting idea! Thank you!

I agree, that seems like a really enjoyable and unique way to celebrate! That kind of family vacation adds even more significance to the milestone.

My son age of 4 yrs old is having stiff neck now.

Any advice…should I bring him to Chinese shifu to "rub" his neck?

I would be cautious about any rubbing or tui na if he is only four years old. Before attempting alternative treatments, perhaps consult a pediatrician to rule out anything dangerous.

@lakshmiSG563 Lentils and tofu are excellent plant-based protein sources that fill you up without packing on the calories, so I’d include those as well.

    • RE: Childcare costs

      @Mark_81 said in Childcare costs:

Agree with the above parent / user, I feel there’s no need to overdo it - spend what is comfortable and within your means (e.g. it’s not necessary to send your child for so many different types of classes / lessons or even enrol them into “premium” centres and facilities).

On this note, I recently chanced upon a centre that provides very affordable secondary and junior college tuition starting from only $30 for a 2 hour lesson.

Might be worth checking out if you have children that are at that age / still schooling.

It all comes down to balance. Simple family time or allowing children to pursue their own hobbies can often be just as beneficial for their development as a full schedule of classes.

    • RE: Skin care while travelling

@Pen88n I also concentrate on staying hydrated and avoid wearing makeup when flying. After a lengthy flight, a little mist and moisturizer usually work well, followed by a thorough mask once I’m in the hotel.

    • RE: Travel: Macau

Go ahead and do it if lodging and meals are covered! A little trip can still be a pleasant change of pace, even if there isn’t much to do for kids. Your child might like discovering a new place or the hotel pool.
