All About Home Addresses

Dear Chief Kiasu,
My friend intend to rent a place near NYPS and try for Phase 2C 1km entry for their daughter. I hope you can help me with these questions:
1) How long must they be renting the place before prior to the Phase 2C registration date? Is there any duration I have to satisfy?
2) What are their chances to try for NYPS for Phase 2C. I have read in the forums that the chances are quite high.
3) The chances of getting into RGPS is higher than NYPS for phase 2C right?
Hope to hear from you soon.
Regards,

registration based on IC address. when you register they check your IC. how the address got on the IC is up to you.Dear Chief Kiasu,

not sure about question 2 and 3. -
Lionel Ong:
(2) From 2004 to 2008, NYPS conducted balloting under phase 2C for those staying within 1km except for year 2007 when all within 1km get in. So high chance that u still need to ballot if u stay within 1km.

(3) Yes, for the same years, RGPS conducted balloting under phase 2C for those staying out of 2km except for year 2006 when only those staying within 2km get in. Hence if u stay within 1km of RGPS, u have quite a high chance to get in without balloting. -
My hubby and me hv sold our flat and are living with my parents for the past 1 year. The address of my parents flat are reflected in both my hubby and my ic. Holy Innocent Primary is under 1km from my parents flat. Does this means we can register under the 1km?

Hi,
We are presently staying with in-laws (our IC also reflects in-laws addy) and should we want to register DS the school near our flat (we never stay there tho), can we change it before the P1 registration?
And say if we are lucky to secure a place, can we sell the flat and move on? Will MOE check this and penalize us?
Thanks! -
What if I rent a place in my name within 1 km of the school, use that address to apply, but do not actually live there. However, I leave it vacant and do not sub-let to anyone. Would this be breaking any laws?
I also could not tell from the various posts if it’s ok that my husband and I have different addresses on our ICs.
I also could not tell if there’s a minimum time that I have to have the new address on my IC for enrolment, and any set # of years after that I have to maintain this address.
Thanks for any info or advice! -

Neutral parties will probably advise you accordingly on your inquiries while genuine applicants who lost their seats to those applicants who has the means to exploit the loopholes will probably....
*sigh*
perhaps it is just coincidental that the inquiry that precede your inquiry didn't get a reply as of yet... -

i think as long as that rental address is in your i/c, it is legal.
I also could not tell from the various posts if it's ok that my husband and I have different addresses on our ICs.
wow. good question.

but the school might try to impose a minimum time frame and compel parents to sign it if they want to register in the school. this is the iffy area. it all depends on whether other parents complain about the rental tactic, whether the school would act to kick your kid out because you didn't stay the minimum period, and whether you are prepared to take legal action against the school for imposing the minimum period and making the parents sign that undertaking under duress (i hear some schools whip out that undertaking right at the point of registration and give parents a take it or leave it ultimatum). -

Hi I am a new member, in need of help for advice for Primary School registration for this June.
I am thinking of putting my daughter in a popular school and will be under Phase 2B for registration. We are considering to move to within 2km of the school to increase the chance of getting into the school.
My question is once we move and change the address but (touch wood) cannot get to this school during phase 2B, we are wondering if we can move again and change the address so that we can register her for another school in phase 2C for within 1km. Is that possible to be done?
Thanks for your advice!
