You are given the attachment slip every time you get the report which provides info good enough for you to put into the T-Score formula to work out the T-Score of your kid in Class and Level in school.

But it is difficult to know national level. But what verykiasu2010 is correct that if school historical data of school and national deviation can work out where will it be.

But every cohort’s quality and the papers difficulties also plays a big part too.

this T-score estimation is certainly new to me. the principal is in his 2nd year managing the psle cohort in ds’s school but he was from another pri school previously…

may i know how is 0.7 derived?
        thks v much

the o.7 thingy to me is quite rubbish, plainly using an average to gauge without taking into consideration the mean and the standard deviation

they use 0.7 as an estimate from 0.75 which is assuming that every subject's t-score is 75 as people ASSUMED the max t-score is 300 for 4 subjects and that each subject is of equal weightage

for more discussion on t-score, there is a ksp thread on this

hey, i have been thinking about this recently ie if ds can't get into the IP schools, then what are the other alternatives? i stay at Toa Payoh. the better schools around here will be Catholic high and St Joseph. But what holds me back is their affiliation. they are affiliated to CJC, no offence here, but i would prefer that he goes to a better jc. Victoria is affiliated to VJC which is a good JC to go to but problem is, it is the east. not sure if i should enrol him into Victoria which is better if i think long term.....then again, VJC is quite far away too:(

Toa Payoh to VS is not too far. From Google's map, it is 13km, 15 mins by car and 45 mins by bus. I think this is reasonable. VS is a very good school. Has very strong team spirits, strong in sports, good academic results. A very good all-rounded school.

i think many old Victorians of earlier era would not like VS to be located close to VJC in Marine Parade... but that is MOE's plan to site same family of schools together like RI/RJC (b4 merge) both in Bishan... and VS is one of the Rare schools given a BRAND NEW SITE... where else most other schools are just being giving temp site to shift out and comeback after 2 years or so like Cedar Girls.... 😞 s'pore now really short of land lar

the Previous VS sites seems more CENTRALISED... the besides Jalan Besar stadium site is best because nearest central/south SGpore so it is ok for students from all direction.... But small and old.. the Geylang/Kallang Bahru site is ok but somehow stuck in the middle of a HDB estate... but still rather centrally located...
NOW In Marine Parade... those in the North and West may not like to enrol in VS as abit too far....

              HI all

my eldest ds is taking psle this year and yes, we have applied for dsa already. NUSH and NJC respectively. nush no chance liao since he didn't even make it for the camp. waiting for njc results but i don't have high hopes really. there is an interview portion which i think will be too tough for him....
so, being the type that likes to plan ahead, i am thinking of what other better schools are there.

njc cut off point 4 to 5 pts, is this the cut off point to get into the JC to do A levels? my time was not so low leh and i am an ex njcian !

of course, if his \"O\" results are good enough, i will consider better jcs but if not that good ,then the affiliation will help, right? then again, i think i am thinking too far ahead.....

my son's teacher never gives us an \"estimate\" t score for my child. i guess that will put too much stress on parents plus child and based on what, can the teacher come up with the estimate!?
              Hi,

Just remember that after the PSLE scores are out, there is a chance to apply again to NUSH and also many students do transfers out of their DSAed schl and there are tons of appeals going around. So if ur ds did not get thro' DSA, its really OK. Just focus on the PSLE results, with a high PSLE score any school is within his reach ...

                hi Harini

thks. yep, that is exactly what i have been telling ds…
we have put the disappointment about not getting dsa behind us already and focus all the energy in the actual exams.
sure hope our efforts pay off!
                regards

I find it simpler to enter NUSH via PSLE results. To apply, you will need a minimum aggregate score of 250 and A* in both Math and Science. Then depending on the cohort applying, if you're among the top applying, you'll get in. Cut off for last couple of years was around 257 I think. Someone with exact COPs please post.

Also, note that NUSH does not take part in the S1 posting exercise. So you get an extra choice in your selection of schools.

                      [/quote]A* = 91 Marks & above, As = 75 Marks to 90 Marks.

Hi all, need your advice :-

1.) Mixed school or girls/boys school, which one do you prefer? Why?

2.) For IP School, how they ensure that the student will pass his GCE 'A' Level since they do not sit for 'O' Level? :? 😞
