hi Val,
hi, congrat.nothing2do:
Hi,
My girl will be joining DHS next year. May I have some advise about the kind of (school) workload expected for a Sec 1 student?
Thanks.
VAL.
for my gal case she find more relax compare to pri sch, bec hw given date due is always not the next day.
Congrats to u
as for the workload, it really depends which class is yr gal in.....
as it varies, sounds a bit weird right??
my gal has frens from other classes and they do make a comparison of the sch workload,
she found that for those graded assignments and projects, they are the same
but non-graded stuff, the worklaod really varies
as for her, her term 1 and term 2 worklaod was really heavy,
after the June holidays, it decreases quite drastically
yes, compare to P6, is more relaxing now, apart from many pop quiz and small tests
Thank you Augmun and Nothing2Do. -
Hi, any parents here with child in Chinese Orchestra?
Would like to know whether yr child continued the music lesson with Shangyin after sec 1? Although theyβre told it is not compulsory to continue after sec 1, dd told me all the CO seniors she knows continue their lessons. TIA. -
My Girl conβt Shangyin util now which she is in Year 5 this year. She used to go there once a week.

If you have your own teacher, do you need to go Shangyin? -
The Shangyin instructors are the same ones for the school's CO. It's compulsory for Y1 students to attend music lessons at Shangyin after which it's highly encouraged.
Asked dd to stop lesson for a year to concentrate on her grade 8 piano exams but she insists to continue. The shangyin instr is also sending her for exams next year. Hope she can cope.

What I meant is that, if the Y1 student is already competent and has his own instructor, how can they make it compulsory to attend music lessons at Shangyin? eg. the y1 student is already working on grade 9 erhu, for instance with an existing private teacher. Doesn't make sense to make this student go to Shangyin in addition to his own private lessons, apart from the school's sectionals.
