hi jtoh, to be fair, i think from the results, its quite safe to say that most of the girls in the top class would have done well in the PSLE, as in good enough to go to a good sec school (abt 250 and above?). 2 A* is more uncertain, the range of COP can be quite wide. pls note that my observations is based on my own memory/experience with PSLE. Times may have changed. -
just wanted to add that the publication is very interesting. Can see the girls enjoy a fun-filled school life! Great work SMPS! :celebrate:
surprised to see the school has revamped its website and even linked it to the PTA website. quite impressive! on top of that, glad to know that the affiliated sec school was granted autonomous status in 2009 as well! wld be an incentive for many parents to send their girls to the primary school

I have been thinking for mths which student care to chose?
St Mag YMCA @ SGD 295 + SGD 100 (school bus)
Nearby my house @ SGD 235 + SGD 60 (school bus)
Thinking of saving money and ask my dad to look after her… But afraid he cant control my girl… haiz… -

You are right Foreverj. I heard a a friend's relative said that her gal scored 2A* and was in top class. T-score was good enough for her to go to RGS integrated progam (abt 260). So it's not the No of A* that counts but the \"strength\" of As too. SMPS is reasonably strong in all subjects except Chinese which is typical of English \"speaking\" profile in such schools. Perhaps the 1 A* lost because of that. Another of her schoolmate got NO A* at all but scored around 240.

Find out which one has better \"reputation\"? Extra money spent is worth it if it can set or mould good character in your gal....I have been thinking for mths which student care to chose?

convenience and quality of care are definitely impt considerations. my colleague spent some time to evaluate several BASCs before deciding on which of those non VWOs. i dunno if her concerns were valid - as in she wanted those which were profit oriented to ensure the quality of care is there. other concerns were whether the centre able to provide tuition services so that after school, my colleague does not have to worry abt helping her kids with schoolwork. -

thanks for verifying my observations. n i m surprised someone with no A* can still garner 240. must be very high As for almost all the subjects.

in any case, i m quite assured by the results as its comparable to a good neighbourhood sch with the added bonus of mission sch envt and strong character developmt. as for chinese, i firmly believe the home envt is critical to encourage interest and learning in languages so i m ok with teaching her myself if the need arises. -
thks all… i didnt hear any feedback from YMCA so not too sure hw is this student care… If place her in school student care, i wont hv to worry if after ECA or remedial class she will be wonder around becos. But if i placed her near my hse student care. She will hv to wait till 4.30pm for the school bus.
But on the other hand, i heard from my neighbourhood. My area student care is not bad. They ensure they finished their homework and learn their spelling. If no homework, they have to do their own assesement book. The student care teacher will teach them if they do not know hw to do. Come to school holiday, i dun need to arrange special school bus.
And it save me $100 per mth. -
I know of one child scoring 3 A* but her score was 4 points lower that the other scoring 2 A* (2009 PSLE students). Both kids did scored above 260.
So the strength of your A* and A are important.
