Do you all think that children carry very heavy school bags to school? Mine, her school bag like heavier than a bag of rice...*faint*.

Yuup! Definitely… during first week of P1,
my girl’s class teacher kept reminding us
that the weight of the bag should only be
10% of the child’s weight.
Sooner or later… i was like, huh?
Ya right!! -
What to do? sometime forget to bring some worksheet also will get scolding. therefore my 2 kids have a file to put all those recent weeks worksheet in the bag to gain more weight also .

i remember someone wrote to forum or newspaper saying when she was young, she lighten her sch bag by tearing off pages from textbooks and making them into smaller booklets, then she only bring the booklet that teacher is currently using. I tot tat's a good idea so I suggested to my son. But he refused

Just reprimanded my elder boy last night. He does not put the unnecessary stuff in the sch lockers, bringing them day in day out to school. I am worried abt his height growth. Plus I think it is dangerous should he lose his balance and fall backwards. The other day, my P2 boy sat on the metal railing besides a cashier @ NTUC Supermarket, tipped backwards. Luckily I turned around to look at him and caught him on time, else he would have banged his head on the floor. I still remember the accident in which a student fell from the school paraquet becos he leaned on it and somehow tipped backwards.
But my elder boy is so yayapapaya. Let’s see whether he unloads some stuff today. I ban him for one month of rubik cube should he does not take my advice. Both of us were so :x at each other. -

My son’s form teacher teaches 5 five subjects - Eng, Maths, Science, Social Studies and Health Ed. She has a tendency not to follow the timetable and teaches any of her subjects on any day. So she told the children to bring all the books for her convenience. Do any of you have this problem?

same here. sometimes my son will insist on bringing a textbook that's not in the timetable. He says sometimes his teacher (who teaches more than one subject) may swap the slots if he can't finish the syllabus in the previous lesson, etc.
And worst, occasionally the teacher will ask students to bring the enitre subject file, which contains all the past worksheets, for revision. It's like the weight of 3 text books ! And then my son will still insist on bringing all the textbooks, workbooks, etc, even though I told him since teacher say she's revising past worksheets and bag already so heavy, why still need to bring those ? But he say scared teacher will scold. So i think what the teacher can do is at least let the class know which books will not be needed, otherwise, students will assume they are all needed. (i'm going to bring this up at the coming teacher-parent meeting)
Basically I have the feeling tat these teachers are just too disorganized in their teaching and often couldn't execute lesson as planned. Maybe class size too big for them to handle ?
In any case, i think teachers should not expect students to carry all subject books everyday so that they could swap timetables around at their own convenience ! -
My suggestion, keep the files (with completed worksheets) at home. Just bring one file to sch to put all worksheets given by teachers (all subjects). Talk to teachers about this. Wait till exam over, I would talk to teachers but maybe they won’t follow this suggestion.
Even there is locker, it is either not used or used for art & craft materials. Teachers may keep unmarked HE, Music, SS workbooks. -
Regarding using other not important periods (ie PE, HE, SS) to conduct eng, maths lessons, I am okay with it.
