[Ang Mo Kio] Primary Schools
-
Hey.. thanks soo much for tat piece of info..
Really appreciate!
-
Does anyone think that anderson primary is worth moving house for? Where can I get detailed PSLE results of schools and which sec schools do students from Anderson primary go to? Thanks!
-
dozalot,
APS seems to have no affiliation - you can check from http://app.sis.moe.gov.sg/schinfo/SIS_index.asp.
the release of details of psle results for respective schools is dependent on whether the school will post on their website. -
jedamum, thanks for your reply.
I thought maybe some schools might have a tradition, culture, for majority of students going to certain secondary schools after PSLE. Might also be due to results. Iโm asking to gauge the results of Anderson.
BTW, when will all the schools be converted to single sessions? Does this mean that it will be even more competitive to get into the target schools? -
dozalot:
Yr 2016 - all will be single session.

As of last year, Bukit Panjang Pri reduced intake by 30, so I think some schools may reduce intake gradually. Do note that some schools may also be 'upgrading' to accomodate all the students for the single session move. It is anyone's guess right now. -
Hi Dozalot,
APS is actually just a neighbouhood primary school, but one thing good about the school is they offer higher chinese even they are neighbourhood school. There is no CA1, CA2 & SA1 for P1 & 2 . Only SA2. Not so stressful. Hopes this help. -

I hv actually thot of moving nearby too to improve my daughter's chance of getting into the school (within 1km) but since I'm expecting now, I hv decided to KIV that plan.
My next best choice is Townsville as :
- no need to ballot for those within 1-2km based on past stats (will be using inlaws' address, so will be within this category)
- wide range of CCAs offered
- good last year's PSLE results
- I hv the impression that its programmes are well rounded, after visiting its website which is updated and informative
- inlaws' neighbours with children in this school hv shared that they are happy with it -
mumwgals:
SNGS - yay!
The Primary Section of St Nicholas will be temporarily relocated to former Kebun Baru Primary site at 6 Ang Mo Kio Ave 2, which is just opposite the current school from Jan 2010 to Dec 2011.
The Secondary Section of St Nicholas will be temporarily relocated to former First Toa Payoh Primary/Secondary site at 430 Toa Payoh Lorong 1 from Jan 2010 to Dec 2011.
Our girl is there. Sec 3

Thanks Jedamum, Nmhmum.
Actually now we โre within 2 km of Rosyth. So far, phase2B within 2km, all can get in w/o balloting. But I am concern that this will not be the case when the time comes since theyโll prob be reducing intake. Besides, not even sure if can get into PV prog.
Anyone thinks that we should stay on and try for Rosyth or move within 1km of Anderson?
Shopaholic, I dont know what to think of schoolsโ website because what is on there might not be what is the reality. -
dozalot:
True, but at least they take the initiative to keep it updated. I hv visited some which are pretty bare and do not provide essential info and I'm still pretty clueless abt what the schools offer.

From Townsville's website, I can see it offers a wide range of CCAs, achievements, programmes, events etc which I think shd provide a well rounded education for my child. I suppose in today's age, it is already one of the essential channels of communication with the parents and as a parent, knowing something is at least better than nothing.
Rosyth is a better school than Anderson. If I hv a chance to go for it in phase 2B, I would.
