Especially boy are like that, when they have computer games or sports to play....energy level immediately rises up ! Can even wake up when they sleep!.......

Yes yes yes...if they have computer games to play, don't even need to eat dinner. My son wants to eat at home more now, not bcos the food on the table is fantastic but bcos he can play on the PC.
When will he mature ?
Quinessential Mum, I think it's possible my son will mature late...judging from his behaviour. But we have a set of rules and time-table for him to follow after school (since P1). -

Computer games are addictive. I have always encouraged my DD to read and do other activities - learn a new sport/hobby etc instead of playing computer games. We do not own a PSP or Xbox!

I have hand-held games and Xbox…but I keep up the consoles during school term. Kids are allowed to play only for 1 hour during holidays (June and Dec).

That is good! You have to enforce the discipline now when they are still young! -
Hi Quinessential Mum,
Being the ‘bad guy’, I have the luxury to be the disciplinary mistress to use the cane. Discipline has to be enforced from young bcos they will lose hold easily esp when they grow. How they turn out to be in future depends on the input now…although I really dare not say they will turn out well with preference for peer pressure at their teens and computers etc etc. -
janet_lee88:
True, but just to share that i have not used the cane before. I usually try to explain the reasons/consequences of actions/behaviour and punishment is usually a withdrawal of a favourite activity/toy etc. It generally works. :lol:Hi Quinessential Mum,

Hi Quinessential Mum,
The principal of IJ primary seems rather understanding, patient and listens to parents…but the secondary side has a disciplinary prob. Quite scary to be there. I just hope my gal does well in order to get into a better secondary school.
I thought of transferring her to MGS or SCGS, nearer home. -
janet_lee88:
Yup the new one seems quite good. Don't worry about sec school, if your DD does well at PSLE or Primary 4, she can always transfer out. Well SCGS will have the IP program so that may be quite a good choice.Hi Quinessential Mum,

Hi Quinessential Mum,
My hubby is reluctant to transfer daughter to another school, since the principal of IJ primary is good. This IP program is something I need to read up on.
A parent from IJ TP primary mentioned something about a 100 word list which will be distributed during P1 orientation. There was also something about creative writing which is challenging at P2. Loads of info for lower primary, but gives me a headstart what to expect. -

The english standard at IJ TP is quite high! Does your DD like to read? What kind of books does she read?Hi Quinessential Mum,
