I thought national average is 200? Did I assume wrongly?
Tell your wife that 235 is a good score. It is already above national average. Believe the national average hovers aroung 230 every year, plus and minus.
From your choices, I figured that you are somewhere in the East. How about Maris Stella and Nan Chiau? Both are within your score.
I would say 235 is a bit risky for SJI. Their COP was 241 last year, but yet I have heard of people appealing and entering with 231 a few years back. -
PSLE is only 1 small hurdle - road is still long
True, true...some encouraging true cases.
PSLE score -(1) 228 Riverside sec , Anderson JC, NUS
(2) Choa chu Kang Sec, Pioneer JC, SMU
(3) Christchurch sec, Anderson JC, NUS
The future is still as bright....don't let the PSLE score be a stumbling block.
The best is yet to be .
All the best. :celebrate:
Yet another inspiring TRUE case:
I recalled this student from CJC who obtained 197 for his PSLE, went on to secure 11 points (L1R5) for his GCE O levels, 4 As and 4 Bs for his GCE A Levels and is currently a medical student at NUS. Go check out the CJC website if anyone doubts this.
Consider this a minor setback; set your mind on doing well and nothing can beat hardwork and focus. All the best. -

I would say it is rather high chance and I think you have made quite a good selection. :celebrate: Not taking NJC into consideration at all? I would say you stand a good chance with that too.My PSLE Aggregate is 258 with a +2 for Higher Mother Tongue. What are the chances of me getting into Hwa Chong?
My choices:
1. Hwa Chong
2. Rivervalley
3. BPGHS
4. Nan Hua
5. Fuhua
6. Hillgrove
Noticed that the schools you selected are more or less in the West area, if not, with your score, can also consider Dunman High. -

Really? :? In my boys' days, the national average was 230 and I was told to use that as a gauge. 200 is a bit low in my opinion as national average. -

Thanks. I am thinking of Maris Stella as well. Which one will be a better choice - Chung Cheng (Main) or Maris Stella? What's the opinion for Tanjong Katong Secondary? -

I think to try a school with - 7 pt is risky. You can try Greenridge, Hilllgrove - theses schools are progressing quite well.Hi,
What are the recommended secondary school choices for T-score of 218? I'm staying in Bukit Panjang area. Is it worthwhile to try a school with a COP of around 225? Does it help if the pupil has participated in many ECAs when it comes to appeal to entry?
Many thanks -
Hi all
My son scored 255 +2. we stay in Toa Payoh. We r thinking of putting the following schools:
1st - hwa Chong
2nd - njc
3rd - catholic high
4th - Victoria school
5th - ???
6th- ???
I am hoping he can get into ip school and he is keen to go to hwa Chong.
As for njc, read one of the posts saying that teachers r not professional so not advisable to go there. Any views on this?
Also thinking whether to try nus high but a friend told me there r bgr issues. Btw if one is offered a place in nus high, does it mean he/she will not be offered a place in any of the 6 choices?
After reading so much about ip schools, I am even thinking of choosing river valley but it is way too far from Toa Payoh. However, Ds has more chances of getting in.
Headache now, so would appreciate advice on this.

Both CCHM and Maris Stella have their own strengths, and I suppose that's where you have to do your homework? How about paying them a visit, going to the website etc to take a look? Important thing is that the child must be comfortable with whichever school that he is going to.
Heard from some fellow forummers who have kids at TKSS that it is quite a good school, but I do not have personal experience with that school.
