Think of it as INPUT (COP) vs OUTPUT (GCE O Level Results banding)hello

If Input is 50, output is 50 -> no value add
If Input is 50, output is more than 50, say 70 -> value add
So take for example, NanChiau's Input COP was <220 4 years ago, now output is Band 1 results, then there is a lot of Academic Value Add.

I notice some schools have higher cop which do not have any banding than those schools with lower cop which are banded. So does that mean higher input (cop) may not produce good ‘O’ level results?

Hwachong, raffles, etc? they don't take o level and hence not banded -

Yes, some schools have high COP but banding is not so good.
There are some schools which consistently get 'Academic value add' stars. Why? becos they accept affiliated students with lower COP, hence the room for value add is there -> they consistently get stars for 'Academic value add'.
Look at St Margaret and Crescent. SM will get Academic value add stars easier than Crescent. Can u figure it out?
Another school which always get such stars is PLMGPS. -
Banding, there are some possible tricks which can push L1B5 better, that is letting only those who can achieve good scores to go for O Level by reducing the number of students.
As for how to reduce (I know at least 3 ways), you can go and figure out. -

Fully agreed. It is also happening in JC. Even happening in some elite Pr Sch to maintain good PSLE results - kind of sad state.Banding, there are some possible tricks which can push L1B5 better, that is letting only those who can achieve good scores to go for O Level by reducing the number of students.

what is meant by Autonomous Schools(AS)?
-
Means the school and the school management has a lot more say than other school when comes to many decision affecting the school.

Thank you JonC.
Can you please explain how 'autonomous schools' differ from 'independent' schools? It is somewhat confusing.
Thanks and regards.
