      Hi TAS,

Glad to hear about your move to AMK. It will much nearer for us and now its in the central, it is very convenient.

Will the current classes in yishun be held at the same day and time when you move to AMK?

        Hi 24hrmum and pixiedust,

Yes the improvement in marks is quite impressive. I think what makes us very happy as parents is also that the teachers take your feedback seriously as well and really work with us as parents to help the children.

          Hi,

May I know what is this creative writing book of TAS? And what is TAS? Sorry I am a first time dad here on the forum and I really need some help for my older girl. She is in P2 and only got 71 for her English.

i do agreee that so far TAS staff has been responsive and courteous and helpful.

all along i had been sourcing only for compo class becos i thot grammar, vocab, cloze n compre can be self taught, unlike compo. and my girl basically has no prob in these areas except compre, for which her weakness was only discovered recently cos p1 no exam, n sch seldom gv compre classwk or hmwk (in fact very little eng hmwk) n i always focus her math cos that is her real weak. but for this sa2, her compo only 6.5/10 tho has been attending compo class elsewhere since p1, n she got full marks for paper 2 (ie grammar, vocab, close) EXCEPT compre whc she scored 3.5/10. that is why i thot maybe my strategy was wrong. still wondering why i shd go for all-in-1 eng class or purely compo class since no purely compre class. her oral was 24/30. ok lah tho can improve still. i had self taught compre 1wk before exam but i guess too late or my teaching no effective. overall she got 86 this yr for eng, after averaging for 4 terms.

            any comments?

              Hi,

I read somewhere about a spelling bee programme and write a book programme that TAS has. Anyone has more information about it?

TAS is short for The Alternative Story.
An enrichment centre that helps students with the English Language
up till Secondary School level. They also offer Science & Mathematics
programmes. Some programmes are also ability based where higher
ability children can be further enriched to achieve bigger potentials...

They currently have 3 centres. Main & first branch in Yishun, another
in Paya Lebar and finally one in Bt Timah Shpg centre that recently
opened; much to the delight of fellow westies.

TAS has been applauded for their creative ways of teaching children
language. They also have fun ways to teach children how to memorize
Science facts and offer occasional field trips to follow up with what has
                been covered in class.

The teachers are all knowledgable, patient and extremely passionate
about what they believe in and you can see it almost immediately the
minute you speak to anyone of their educators.

TAS Creative Writing book is a compilation from TAS which was recently
launched as a guide for students and parents alike.

                  Hi hellokitty2,

It is a programme under their community service arm. They opened it up to students from TAS but they said anyone can join. I sent my kids to their word wizard 2010 and also spelling bee 2010. My kids started to be interested to learn spelling and would carry around their spelling booklet around at home to learn. They also picked up the techniques of breaking up the spelling words for new words they learn.

For word wizard, they learn new vocabulary words and they could remember what they learnt for quite a while. The best thing for me is these programmes are free šŸ˜‰ and they are an enrichment for whatever they have learnt in school and tas. I think you can call them to find out about these programmes.

                    Hi BigDad,

Thanks for your feedback. I will seriously consider their community programmes. They sound good.
