Giggler:
Hi Giggler, WGPS and Rulang did not have a history of balloting in Phase 2B, so I'm not sure why you should be so worried about getting into WGPS. If anything, I imagine Rulang would be the greater challenge. If you are under 1km to WGPS, go for it.tamarind, hi hi, this website is recommended by WGPS' principal. The principal said that PV for your yr is gd but not for mine. Too many PVs liao. She kept asking those who stay >2km to opt out lah. But seems like most of us stay within 1km.
Now I cracking head on what to contribute for Rulang's PV. At least if I'm selected as Rulang's PV, I'll cfm a place at Rulang lah.
Anybody here got any idea what Rulang is expecting from the PV? Not sure if they want simple duties like gate duty, assisting in reading, etc. -

Agree with Chief Kiasu that you should not be worried about West Grove.tamarind, hi hi, this website is recommended by WGPS' principal. The principal said that PV for your yr is gd but not for mine. To be 100% sure, apply for PV for both West Grove and Rulang. Then if you are selected for Rulang, just withdraw from West Grove. Many parents are doing that
If you are not selected for Rulang, you still have West Grove.
My hubby and I actually went to both Rulang and West Grove to get the form. But my hubby does not have a good impression of Rulang, he does not care much about academic performance, plus the fact that it is much further away, so we only applied for West Grove.
Rulang staff called us and asked us to return the form even if we are not going to volunteer. Seems like paper is very expensive for them

Hi, my son did not manage to get into WGPS after balloting and he's now in JYPS.
His P1 & P2 teachers are very nice. Below is a blog set up by his Form Teacher. Really appreciate their efforts.

Dear Chieft Kiasu & all members,
I am loss in making a decision which school to choose for my boy P1 registration. We are staying near West Grove , Pioneer & Xingnan ( within 1 km ). We will involve in Phase 2C for the registration. Like all parents, we are thinking to register my boy in West Grove ( as first choice & go for balloting ) but, based on your statistic, the chances to get a seat is very very low ( last year : 30 % ) , and I guessed this year might be tougher ??? : (
Our concern is what if we can't get in to 1st choice , what will be the chance to get in 2nd school of choice, it might end up another balloting for phase 2C supplement.. and if so unluckly and it end up to Phase 3, we will :stupid:
Any statistic to show for chances to get in school at Phase 2C Sup???
Anyone have update about school performance for West Grove, Xingnan , Pioneer, etc at Jurong West area>>>
Pls help :?:
Thanks,
Nervous Mum -
good luck to all the parents for year 2010 registration for P1

Hi,
Iโm tied between xingnan and juyingโฆ
Javbaby and all juying parents, can tell me more abt juying? Juyingโs school environment, rowdy? Does the school teachers communicate with parents? Are the children the study study type?
Thks! -
Hi ST Lee,
Very much alike, I face similar problems as you. M residing in Jurong West and registrating P1 for my DD this July.
I have the Vacancy report for Phase 2cS in PDF but not sure how to share it in here. Chief Kiasu, can you guide me on that?
Thanks.
Alternatively, you can give me your email, and I will email you the report.
My suggestion to you is that you give West Grove a call closer to date to check on your chances. Based on the statistics, you have to be really lucky in order to get into West Grove under 2c. West Grove & Rulang are the most popular schools in Jurong West area.
In fact, most schools located within 2 km from my pl, all require balloting.
So much abt asking parents to try to put their children near home. How to do that when it's so difficult to get into the school in the 1st pl. Haiz.... -
My boy currently in Juying P1. Like Javbaby, I think the teachers are very nice.
They involve parents in many activities. Eg : the Chinese New year celebration, Friendship day, Reading Marathon (in the evening, 6.30pm to 8pm, so far they organize 2 already). -

Yes, West Grove is definitely difficult to get in (1 in 3 chance even if you stay within 1km!). Go for it if you have the stomache for the stress level. If you fail, you still have a very good chance of getting into Pioneer, which is not bad either. Unless something really strange happens, you are unlikely to get into Phase 3 with these choices.
Alternatively, target Xingnan for Phase 2C and have a stress-free P1 Registration exercise
