My DS going SST next year. Any parents can share some experience?
We are staying in Yishun, do you know if there is school bus? When I asked during registration yesterday, I was told so far students there do not take school bus. :? -

Hm.. Depends. Anyway I'm going to SST next yr too
:D.
Anyway, I doubt they have school buses since SST students come from all parts of Singapore.
For the trip to SST...
Depends, I live in Chai Chee and the fastest way to SST is taking the feeder bus from my house and take the train to Clementi. If you would like to go to SST by the fastest way, you would need to take the southbound train to Raffles Place, then cross the platform to the other side and board the westbound train towards Clementi.
When Circle Line stage 4 and 5 open, you can take the southbound train to Bishan and change to the Circle Line and board the train to Buona Vista and change to the westbound train and alight at Clementi.
The reason why we wouldn't choose buses is, like in Bedok, there is Svc 7 that goes from Bedok to Clementi, but it takes 1 hour compared to the MRT that only takes 37 mins. So.. you kinda get it. Buses might be affected by road conditions and stuck in heavy congestion. So, you can't really plan your trip everyday. -
Sounds like you are very independent.
hope to keep in touch since SST has a small intake. My DS is very excited to join the school thus even though it is far but we think it would be worth it.
We do have a plan to take MRT via woodlands to Bukit batok and transfer to bus if there is no school bus. Just that I have seen NUS high has a school bus that comes to Yishun and I thought SST would also have school bus. -
Hi all,
My son wants to be in SST (School of Science and Technology) when he goes to secondary school (p5 this year). Believe that the admission for the same is 100% DSA.
Any parent here who can tell their experience in how to prepare for DSA for SST? He is an above average student - very interested in technology.
:?:
Regards -
I cannot comment much about the test as my DS did not prepare for his DSA test. He just went and sat for the test. His feedback was that the test was very broad based eg time zones (asked him and he could not remember :faint: ), IQ tests and comprehensions questions. Since young, he would rather read encycopedia than story books. :scratchhead:
Admission is 100% DSA.
Sorry not much help  , may be others can share. -
The test taken is the Higher Ability Selection Test (HAST). You can find more information on http://www.acer.edu.au/tests/hast-secondary. This is the same kind of test used by NJC in their selection too. Hope this helps.

Hi, my son will be going to SST next year. He didn’t apply thru DSA because he only decided on it after taking his prelims. Luckily this year SST accepted post-PSLE applications (25/11 to 23/12). Not sure about next year though. New campus ready in 2012 so they may change.Hi all,

We went to the school to submit the application immediately after PSLE results and he was asked to attend an interview the following day (I was also interviewed but I don’t know if that’s the norm or not). We were told that the outcome would be known before S1 Posting date and we still had to submit the S1 Option form. Just the day before Posting date SST told us that my son has been offered a place and we could make up our minds after seeing the Posting result. My son got posted to BPGH but he decided on SST so we went to collect the Letter of Offer from SST. We were advised to go to the BPGH on that same day to apply for a transfer. The letter of transfer was also given to us so we just had to get the BPGH Principal to sign and stamp the approval on it. The next day which was S1 Registration day, we just return the signed letter to SST to settle the rest.
Now it’s just waiting for school to start and I am looking forward to join him in his new experience. -
