Hi ttlkbs, welcome to TKSS.ttlkbs:
Hi Carebear,
What CCA does your DS join? My DS wants either band or sailing but i'd prefer band or NCC(land), any opinion? Btw, DS is in TKSS.
My DS is in Red Cross.
Band is good if your DS is committed to it as it requires lots of training.
It will probably earn him a good grade if he is committed.
Sailing is good if he is the sea type of person.
I personally would not like my DS to participate in any sea activities.
I am not a sea person.
DS initially wanted to join NCC (sea) but i managed to talk him out of it.[/quote
Hi, carebear, thx for your reply.
Went to the CCA recruitment this morning & was really impressed. DS wants to join band but i'd prefer NCC(land) coz band requires 3 practices per week & i am worry this may affect his study. I was a band member in Sec sch, hence i know how much time we had devoted to band in order to maintain a high standard. He doesn't want NCC(land) as he is not too keen on those trainings. Anyway, he has a week to think before making any decision.
Did you attend the TK1 nite last year? -

Yup, i attended the one last year where you get to meet the teachers for dinner. The food was good!
I was from TKGS and although I was not a band member, i remembered hearing the band practising almost continuously and on almost every occasion the school celebrated the band could be heard.
Remember CCA grade can be used in the O level, so if DS likes band, he should go for it. -

My son was an active band member in P6.... but now seems a little put off by all the training hours required - just imagine - the whole Saturday, but they say it's only till April. Have not chosen anything yet - still going through the choices. Gosh, CCAs should be fun, but overheard many parents' more interested in the extra 2 points for JC.... not taking their wards' INTEREST at all

wow, u 24hrs on this forum? I was fr CGS & really enjoyed my 4 years as a band member. Even till now after leaving the sch for more than 20yrs, we band girls still meet up every now & then. If he insists to join band, then of course i'd give him my support but he must promise not to neglect his study.ttlkbs:

Hi skywalker28 n ttlkbs, my DS told me that this year's sec 1 intake in TKSS is less. Each class about 35-40 students and only 7 classes compared to his year where there are 8 classes for his standard.
Is that right?
My DS ask if it is because there are less people giving birth in the year of the tiger? Hahaha..... -
