      hi jenao

as for penmanship, u hv to enforce it. otherwise for math eg my girl tends to write 6 like 0, and do the question wrongly cos she cant even read her handwriting correctly

buy those penmanship books. for p1-p2, some sch like my girl’s will get the kids to do penmanship.

my boy also like that. lazy to write. if i offer a reward he can write really nice. othrwise anyhow do. its attitude problem.

      he is now 5.
but when he was 4, he cant write on the line or copy. lots of mirror images. he went brainfit studio’s revamp prog to rectify his visual-motor problem n his handwritg imprved greatly.

I have withdrawn my kids from I Can Read this month and they will attend at LCentral Ang Mo Kio instead. My DD’s teacher at ICR is a local chinese lady and i thought all teachers are native speakers when I first signed up for my son who has attended ICR for 2 years. No communication to parents from ICR. When my son completed the I Can Read syllabus, there was no review by the teacher meeting the parents and just prmoted them to the next level on comprehension skills i think. My son is in K2 this year.

At least at Lcentral, they have dedicated meet the parents session in the calendar.

hi, my daughter learning with I CAN READ for quite sometime. Yes, she can read, I mean, she can read the words BUT without understanding. Had discusisons with other parents whose kids went to I CAN READ as well. Something in common, can read, but the understanding /comprehension is not there, feeling waste of money, not cheap…

I wanted my K2 son to learn reading too, but I CAN READ is definitely not my choice…

I sent my son to ICR in 08, he didn’t need to take the prep class as he could manage his phonemes A-Z. It was generally good but the centre @ gold hill had a problem with staff attrition - he had 5 different instructors in the 4 semesters he was there. Eventually, decided to take him out before he started comprehension & writing.

Recently, i went back wanting to enroll my daughter. They insisted on putting her thru a creative thinking prep course. I’m just wondering, after reading the lukewarm responses here, if they are still worth it.

                        Hi manorway

Does your child still benefit from the lapbooking class? Can u send me a private message? I heard from some parents that they found good lapbook materials in some website such as homeshare…
