search for the school. click on the links below that list out private residential building by distance. up to about 700m should be accurate. anything beyond, you should validate with LTA. you can purchase official distance information - think its 5 bucks a pop. -

You can search by schools - I think it's quite accurate, and it's user friendly too -
If you’ve a distant relative whose address is within 1 km of your desired school. Could you change your address to register for your child in that school?

Are you renting the unit from your distant relative and staying there? If not, what you are about to do will be consider unethical as you are robbing applicants who genuinely stay within 1km from the school a place for their kid. :torchme:
If you are just changing the address without staying there, then you better be on your toes; if ever the relationship with your relative sours or if any parents from that school or anyone else who knows who you are (or your kid is) and reacts strongly against what you have done, they will report it to MOE and your kid will be made to withdraw from school. -

I didnt know so serious because I knew a few people done it..so I thought is ok. Thank you for your advice. This idea is dropped as the state of leaving in constant fear is not favorable. Also teaching my kidz to \"lie\" is not what we like to incalcate....megbryan:

I was just wondering how many parents will behave ethicially in a bid to get their kids to the \"dream school\". There is probably a \"fine line\" on what is right or wrong?
Eg.
1) The parents who purposely rent near the school. Got a place and then move back to their own house after that?
2) The parents who bought a house near the school. Rent out the place to foreigners with no kids so they will not vie for a place in that school. They then based on that address to register?
3) The creative parents who borrow the relatives' address and the list goes on.
I gather that as we do not see publicised case of parents cheating (except there was a case yrs ago). People tend to take it lightly that they will not get caught since everyone else is doing that. It's not easy for the school to find out,etc... I really wonder if MOE does such audits,etc...
