My son has transferred to MS this year. The school teaches Higher Chinese, the poorer students will be placed in another smaller class during the chinese lesson. The teacher will concentrate on this group of students to ensure they can get catch up with the lessons and once their results improve, they will join their own class.[Moderator's note: Topics merged.]
Hi All,
Am thinking whether to enrol my boys to Maris Stella during this year P1 registration. The problem is I heard that they will ask kids to go if they didn't perform well in school. Is this true? My sons are not good in Chinese. Will they have problems if they study in this school? Any comments?
Regards,

Hi I'm new here,
my girl is born in Dec 2004.
wish to check any of you intending to send your child to Pei Chun Public School in 2011? i couldn't register as a parent volunteer coz its full!
now I'm also considering CHIJ(TPY) but not staying within 1KM....

According to http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/toa-payoh, CHIJ TPY is oversubscribed between 26% to 38% in the last 2 years for Phase 2C and those between 1-2km. In 2006, even those staying within 1km had to undergo balloting. So I would place your chance as \"low\", but not impossible.Hi I'm new here,

Hi ChiefKiasu,
Thanks for the speedy reply and vital info.
If I stick to Peichun which is within 1km, seems like my chance is still low (under Phase 2C) according to the info you directed. So if both CHIJ and Peichun chances are equally low, should I just toss coin and pick one? :?
Anyone else intending to register your child to either one of these schools for 2011 P1? -
mom76:
Since you stay within 1km of Pei Chun, statistically, you chance may actually be higher for Pei Chun than CHIJ (TPY), assuming that there will be balloting at Phase 2C for Pei Chun for less than 1km and balloting for CHIJ (TPY) for between 1-2km this year. This is because EVERYONE who applied for Pei Chun in Phase 2C had to ballot while only those who are between 1-2km of CHIJ (TPY) had to ballot. Those who live within 1km of CHIJ (TPY) did not have to ballot. So the number of places available for balloting at Phase 2C for CHIJ (TPY) is actually lower, since they are what is left after giving the places for registrants staying within 1km. Worse, there could be balloting even for those staying within 1km, in which case you do not even have a chance to try for CHIJ (TPY).Hi ChiefKiasu,

Hope you understand what I mean. -
I see your logic....moreover Peichun opens more vacancies than CHIJ, so my chance should be rather high even without parent volunteering.
Sigh....logically speaking, I should go for Peichun, but my heart desires more for CHIJ.

Hi,
I’ve read through the thread and found questions of parents asking on Kheng Cheng’s performance. However, there no replies. My in laws are staying right in front of Kheng Cheng and by using their address, I presume it will be easier to get into Kheng Cheng than Pei Chun, even though we will still be under phase 2C 1km-2km for both schools.
Does anyone know about Kheng Cheng? -

Not very sure about Kheng Cheng but it is definitely easier to get in than Pei Chun!Hi,
