hi ccgoh,
on that session where the child writes full compo for TAS, do they still cover other aspects eg compre, grammar etc for that session?
now it seems there are two compo teaching methodology in debate:
1) typical weekly compo writing, diff wk diff topics (will the child just write blindly without thinkg, going thru the motion only), vs
2) just learn the techniques each week, or learn write part of a compo every week, then write a full compo once a mth (the child gets to think and analyse how to write, but will once a mth practise for full compo be sufficient?)
other parents, any comments? -

Hi Chloe,Chloe:
Hi yismom,
I stay in Yishun as well, recently, my friend recommended me to a tuition place, seems like they use quite good strategies to teach and my kid loves the lessons, he seems to be improving too. I can pass you the contacts if you want.
I am interested in the contacts too. Please pm me.

any testimonial on compo/compre results after attending tas?
Hi 24hr-mum,
My friend and I joined TAS at the same time last year. Her son could apply the phrases he learnt and techniques and started improving quite fast. Mine learnt the phrases abut could not apply well and also he would make grammar mistakes still in his compo. The TAS teacher told me that his foundation was weaker and so he would need more time to master the techniques. I continued and now I have started to see some slight improvement in the way he strings his sentences together.
I think for compo and compre, need to be patient, some children learn very fast and seem to pick up fast but some quite slow. For me, I could see that the my son really enjoyed the lessons at TAS so I continued and now I start to see some results. Glad that I did not give up.
I think you must feedback to the teacher and work it out, TAS has open feedback system so you can work with teacher to help your child if you find he is not learning well.
Another thing I like is recently my friend's older girl who is in P6 got a call from the admin side and they said they were giving the upper pri kids extra tuition at a very low cost for the next 2 weeks to help them get ready for exams. My friend only needed to pay $15 for 2 extra hours. They only offered to upp pri because upp pri work is much more and they are the ones who are taking psle soon so they need more help. I was happy about that, to me, it showed the centres dedication to the kids. -
that’s great.
my p3 girl started compo classes since p1 (joyhouse, success learning at p1, then mindstretcher at p2).
p1 no exam
p2 sa2 compo she got 6.5/10 - is this considered good or average?
her friend who didnt hv tutiion got 6/10, so i wonder if the 2-year compo class werent effective (tho i know my girl being 1 jan bb, is 1 year younger than her peer).
her lang is ok, did apply some phrases but content just not illogical, just like her character lah…
hence i m trying tas now… -

I suggest you feedback to the teacher her problem and monitor her work closely and feedback more if you feel certain things are not resolved.that's great.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, it seems that TAS is quite good. What if my child is quite average, is there a chance that TAS may not be able to help as her grammar is quite weak. Any comments?
