RE: Help! Who knows highest MOE official in-charge of Welfare?
ooioo:
Hi calling all kiasu parents, any teachers or MOE staff out there and know who is the highest MOE Official in -charge of student welfare and or bus transport, thanks in advance!!!
Most such emails will not go straight to the highest authority. Emails are usually screened by their subordinates like secretaries or PA first and at the end of the day, only a minority of the emails will be seen and read by the highest authorities, usually those of utmost importance or urgencies. Imagine if they have to go through and reply every single email themselves, I think they would still be doing this single \"job\" 24/7 and do not have to do any other work already.
Although I do not know why you have to look for the highest authority concerning the student's welfare and bus transport, but I would advise that you speak to the relevant party first and if it still cannot be resolved, you may speak to the school Principal and the Manager in-charge of that transport company.

Anyone using them? Saw it selling at close to $90. Do you find it useful and effective? Which series have you bought/tried? Do we have to download the software before using it and what are inside the box, 10 or 40 books? Thank you.

RE: Appeal Secondary One Posting
Hollyking:
Not necessarily. I think by a difference of 2 points, the chance is still there since the score for this year is much lower, hence some of the cop for most schools this year are likely to be lower too. But of course if there are many who opted for the school have scores at or above the required cop, the chance may be lower. JMHO.smartiemommy:
Hi all. My daughter is p6 this year and she has an aggregate of 230. She had put ngee ann as her first choice due to it being an IT school. But because it is a band 6 school, she wants to go to Temasek instead. How do you appeal to a school? New at this. Do help out.... If she gets put into Ngee ann, what to do??
No need to appeal. Sure cannot get into Ngee Ann. COP 232 last yr. Anyway, they band 6 becos got affiliated students with lower psle score that pull results down overall. My girl graduated last yr. She got in Ngee Ann after appeal. I remember her psle score 231. She got into VJC this yr. my 2nd girl got 242 this yr. i put Ngee Ann first choice. -

RE: 2011 PSLE Discussions and Strategy
Pen88n:
Maybe there is this thing called \"buyers' regret\". At that moment of choice, you made the decision. Afterall it was only a period of a week, so you might not have done your search very thoroughly or read up to understand the system - can you believe I have frens who are unaware of sch banding and only choose sch based on COP? This is esp. for cases whereby you were caught off-guard with unexpected results. After a month of talking to frens, relatives, colleagues, etc., you suddenly change your mind. That's why there are people who are asking about appealing to 2nd or 3rd choice schs now.
Of course I believe because my friend was one of them.
To all those out there taking PSLE next or following years, do your sch choices after your PSLE paper, before your results come out. I learn from a ksp parent (25-hr maid), she suggests doing a COP range (eg. 220-225, 226-230, etc.) and list out the schs of choice within that range taking into consideration banding, distance, CCA, etc. and research on those schs. I did that and though I still need to do some thinking about how to rank the choices, it is much easier. Moreover, I was able to help some frens with suggestions of schs when they were unprepared and caught off-guard.
Yes, I did that too.

Bingo, Pen88n and Snow Crystal!
Pen88n, agree with what you have mentioned. I did give some of my opinions before that but they seem unconvinced. Well, at least I have done what I could as a friend.

RE: 2011 PSLE Discussions and Strategy
My friend was asking if they wish to be in Option 2 or 3 school instead of the 1st option, can they appeal? If confirm can get into their 1st option but because 2nd option may have lots of students opting in and the cop is very close to the psle score, do you think it is advisable to appeal to the 2nd school of option if they are selected into the 1st (they prefer the 2nd option)? How do they do the appeal document and what is the process like? Risky? TIA.
