that is what the school promises you :give the school your boy and the school will return him a man to you

I hope the \"man\" is a gracious one.

Had a unpleasant encounter with one RI boy on the public bus recently.

ha....that means not a man yet la....still in RI uniform, work in progress !

ok, joke aside, there was also a Hwa Chong boy who hit the bus driver, in the press

      EVERY school has black sheep

Yes. He loves music n singing. Any info pertaining to my earlier qns?

given the way the school is doing the talent profiling to get a good match between ability / talent and interest, i doubt any drop out rate to talk about

based on discussion with the teacher in charge, the time taken for competition preparation is not less compared to others. RV is after all a core cca

Tks a lot for advice.[/quote]did your DS get into RV (choir) ?

My DS is in String emsemble. Is it true u have to take private lessons outside for the new instrument that you are assigned to? So on top of the regular CCA time, you have to schedule time for private lessons?

Yes. My DS is offered cellist post. He has to source for a cello tutor and I hv to pay for his weekly lessons costing approx $100 per hr. The cello will be lent to him for 4 years though. However, some seniors told him that they buy their own instruments to avoid lugging the bulky instrument to n from school. Apparently, those who are taking double bass classes are subsidized. What instrument is ur DS learning?

Most of the violinists would be having their own private teachers anyway, so why not all the other instrumentalists like violists, cellists, etc, right?

My DS is also offered Cello. So did you get the tutor from one of the list of music centres recommended or you go to other music centre? Do you attend lesson at the music centre or does the tutor visit your home?
I have not enrolled him for lesson yet? Are they supposed to start lesson asap?
