Using Relative's Address & Statutory Declaration

So what kind of proof is required to show that we are staying with the grandparents? During the declaration period, does the grandparents need to be around? Or just bring their NRIC will be sufficient?

Can someone advise the procedure how to go about doing it and what is the deadline? Thanks in advance for your help.

As an example, my own address is within 1km of popular school A and my in-laws' address is 1-2km of not so popular school B. At phase 2C, I may register at School A with my own address, but if the balloting chance is very high, I may want to withdraw and register at school B using in-law's address instead...

VooVoo, I dont see why not. Just dont produce the statutory declaration if u registering in the school within 1km of ur own address.

If you are already living 1Km near to the school, there is not required for you to make any Statutory Declaration at all. For my case, my NRIC address is Sengkang but my in law stay in Hougang. And I am putting my kid to Hougang school, in this case I need to make use of my in law address, in order to be qualify into the 1-2KM distance range.
If balloting is high and let says you failed (touchwood!), you will fall under the Phase 2C Supplementary. That's where you can place your kid to where your in law is residing. Statutory Declaration must be made before registration.

You can do that, but I will caution that you must follow up by having your kid physically stay with your SIL for the duration of Primary school with your SIL registered as your child's guardian.

Dear all,


MOE takes serious action to those who use false address. Do take own children in consideration as children may be out of school should they make random checks.

This is to protect those who are really living in that area of <1km. Not many have financial ability to rent units just to use address for P1 registration. It will take away a place for children who geniunely live near school.
