Using Relative's Address & Statutory Declaration
-
VooVoo:
VooVoo, I dont see why not. Just dont produce the statutory declaration if u registering in the school within 1km of ur own address. Can you make a statutory declaration first, but may not want to use the grandparent's address?
As an example, my own address is within 1km of popular school A and my in-laws' address is 1-2km of not so popular school B. At phase 2C, I may register at School A with my own address, but if the balloting chance is very high, I may want to withdraw and register at school B using in-law's address instead...Can I do that? :? -
VooVoo:
If you are already living 1Km near to the school, there is not required for you to make any Statutory Declaration at all. For my case, my NRIC address is Sengkang but my in law stay in Hougang. And I am putting my kid to Hougang school, in this case I need to make use of my in law address, in order to be qualify into the 1-2KM distance range. Can you make a statutory declaration first, but may not want to use the grandparent's address?

If balloting is high and let says you failed (touchwood!), you will fall under the Phase 2C Supplementary. That's where you can place your kid to where your in law is residing. Statutory Declaration must be made before registration. -

Darling_Maine, VooVoo is looking at 2 schools. One within 1km of her own address and one 1-2km of her in-laws' address.

You can do that, but I will caution that you must follow up by having your kid physically stay with your SIL for the duration of Primary school with your SIL registered as your child's guardian. Can you make a statutory declaration first, but may not want to use the grandparent's address?

Dear all,
MOE takes serious action to those who use false address. Do take own children in consideration as children may be out of school should they make random checks.
This is to protect those who are really living in that area of <1km. Not many have financial ability to rent units just to use address for P1 registration. It will take away a place for children who geniunely live near school.
Thanks! -

so it should be

\"one within 1km of her own address and one >2 km (need to add 1km to grandparent's address) of her in-laws' address.\" -
Darling_Maine:
Just to share that if you wish to use your in-laws' address, pls ensure that your child is under their care 'all along' before MOE will allow you to even do a SD. They will not accept if you have just started placing your child under their care or intending to do so after the school term starts. The keyword is 'all along' and the SD form requires you to state they have been looking after the child since <date>. Of course, one can falsely declare the date but will have to face consequence if caught subsequently. If you are already living 1Km near to the school, there is not required for you to make any Statutory Declaration at all. Hi Parents,
I'm new in this fantastic and informative forum....not sure whether this is the correct thread to post. My boy is going to register for P1 next year. Have been staying with my in-laws and rented out my house since about 2 yrs ago...but did not change address in NRIC  Intend to register my son for MSHS under P2C as my PILs place is within 1-2 km. Is there any difference if I opt for Statutory Declaration or is it better to change my address? Appreciate if anyone can give some advice... thanx  -
jastay:
Dear jastay, use of guardians' address only have impact on those within 1km, since the minimum distance priority for guardians is 1-2km even if the guardians stay within 1km. So in your case, there is no difference whether you use the address on your NRIC or that of the guardian.Hi Parents,

However, the law requires that the address on your NRIC reflect the actual address you are staying at, and not that of your property. So you should change your address, anyway.
Hope this helps. -
