Which is also the reason why some committees take so long to recommend EM. They observe first. Hopefully these parents continue to serve the community after their kids got into the school. I know people who do not get involved once they obtained their objective. Sad though....
on the other hand, if the PA does not dangle such carrots in front of people there would be fewer volunteers. its is a somewhat 'win-win' situation where PA gets additional volunteers every year, and those volunteers benefit from their service. The PA is still short of volunteers overall, so the extra intake every year will offset those leaving i suppose. -

True.... 2B and free parking. When I became a GRL didn't even know about this Phase 2B thingy..... ha! ha! -

Can you tell me more about the vacancies thing?timtim:
The letter is only a letter to allow parents to register their children at Phase 2B. It states your name, appointment and the GRO you served, as well as your child's particulars.
It basically said your child is eligible for Phase 2B admission to P1 at any of the schools in SMC/GRC where you serve and where you reside, and may apply subject to availability of vacancies for Phase 2B.
GRL with the letter is suppose to produce it at the eligible school of choice when he/she registers for P1. -

every school will have a different number of vacancies for phase 2b depending on how many places are taken up in the first phase. with a grl letter you qualify for phase 2b BUT if there are more people who qualify than there are places in phase 2b, there will still be balloting. its not a sure thing that you get letter from PA means you will get a place. it depends on the schooltimtim,

hi, i am affected as well. volunteered for more than 2 yrs in holland bukit timah, but now under tanjong pagar…
my boy is due for registration in 2012. i called PA and asked if i moved house, whether the grassroot experience is transferrable to the new grc, and was told yes… but not 100% sure whether it is the case…
studied the map from channelnewsasia… seems nan hua is in west coast now and henry park is with tanjong pagar… but official list could be out till end Apr (i wrote to moe also, was told to contact them again in end Apr)… -

Your area meaning? I happened to serve in a GRC which I am not staying at. So when I have season parking for my own place, I also enjoy the free parking in the GRC I am serving.

For SMC, you may be wrong. If the SMC happened to be in the same town council as another GRC, then the free parking for GRLs do apply in the GRC as well as the SMC. -
Juz like to find out, if i m servg in an nc tat means i do nt hv season parkg, m i still entitled for the free parkg within the grc?

i think it varies by NC/GRC/location. next NC meeting ask your PA representative.
