        mylittleprincess:
        hi

im new here but have been lurking around to read reviews about childcare centres in bukit panjang.

im actually looking for a childcare for my princess (18 months next year)..so i m doing my research work now..
i have been to a few childcare centres to take a look, and here are some of my comments. Of cuz , they are just my personal opinions, and at the end of the day, its really up to different parents' expectation:)
hope i will help some parents in some way or another.

        The children's campus
at 25 almond crescent, i like the place, its a bungalow house and its airy and quite spacious. (no air con used)They have their own playground, so all children play inside the compound. Very clean and have a small playing room and library..the children looked very happy and good:)..teachers, look and sounded happy to be around the children..overall feel, quite good. No TV around.pricey though. for half day CC, cost $450 after subsidy. full day $550

Smiling start CCC @ Bt panjang CC
very small place. only 2 rooms. one for K1 n K2 (air con used)..another one for Playgroup and Nursery. teacher who attended to me look bored and is from china. Children were watching cartoon on TV, which i dun like. Dun like my girl to be watching cartoons at CC. anyway, principal was quite nice. but place a bit smelly. no playground too.though principal said they have a new one (after the reno at the CC) - i didnt get to see the playground. HD - $350 after subsidy, FD $320 ( cheaper for FD)
        overall feel - i dun like it..:P

Modern Montssori preschool @ 10 miloe junction
very spacious and a lot of activities and montessori stuff for kids. Plus points for that. good ratio of teacher and children. (2 teachers , 8-9 kiddos) indoor playground. Only complain is its aircon and the kitchen is inside too..so the whole place smell bad..HD - $545, FD - 663. Expensive (but for montessori, that should be about the price) overall, dun like cuz aircon.- and there's limited vacancy , so must reserve in advanced.dun like the idea its like a bit more elite.

        seedlings patch
another montessori , again, must reserve in advanced. (preferably to reserve a place asap) quite spacious, good montessori stuff children, indoor playground, small library, separate kitchen that is open air, classrooms all air coned. not a bad feel...good ratio of teachers and children..teachers look ok..and happy with children..but ex (i feel ) HD- $475 (after sub) FD- $500 (after sub)

        Kinderland @ bt panjang
indoor playground is small..not enuff space for kiddos to run. classroom size ok, but teachers really seem to lack interest in explaining (at least to me!) they looked bored and not very happy..kids seems happy thou, but i dun like the feel. there's a ballet room, quite nice..toilet is very small though..but there are good activities (like baking ) for children to learn. But my overall feel is not very good cuz the main thing (at least for me) are the teachers dun sound very enthusiatic and warm. air con. HD- $476 (after sub) FD- $716(after sub) too expensive for this kind of environment and teacher, rather choose montessori.

Noah's Ark childcare and development centre
very small place (at HBD void deck) ..area of study very messy. toilets look dirty and smelly. open air (no air con)..public playground, a lot of activities that involve parents (which is something i like), but teachers very fierce, cuz i heard one scolding and shouting at a kid, who was crying in a corner. separate kitchen, which is ok. overall feel, no good. cuz a bit crampy. but cheap HD-$280 (after sub) FD- $320

        My first skool
airy, open air, no air con, clean rooms, children seem very happy and cheerful, very particulart about hygiene cuz they didnt let me in cuz of H1N1, which is good!..i had to look thru the window grilles to see inside...outside playground..separate classrooms for K1/K1 and Playgroup/N1/N2. Staff quite friendly. Overall feel, not bad. HD -$245, FD - $235. Cheap:) (prices after subsidy)

        Salvation Army
Very spacious and roomy, open air..no air con..clean rooms, teachers look young and friendly, cheerful, supervisor Jane is very nice, but strict, which i prefer. I like the place, outside playground, good teacher children ratio (2 teacher 8-9 kiddos)..separate kitchen.didnt see a tv around. overall feel, good. HD - $192 (after sub), FD- $213 (very cheap and good:P)

i have some more CCC to visit...so i will post some reviews once i have seen them:)
hope this helps in some way.

Hi there, thank you for sharing your research. I find it very informative:) I am also looking for a childcare centre for my princess who turns 18months next yr. We are also living in Bukit Panjang.

I am considering these 3 centres:

        1. The Children Campus at Almond crescent
        2. Agape Little Uni at Cashew rd
        3. Gloryland learning centre at Cashew

Any comments on their toddler programmes?

          hi my offspring

i havent seen agape and gloryland cuz they are too far for my MIL to bring my girl to…but i hear agape has quite a good curriculum:)

have u been to any of the CCC to recce? i think different parents have different expectations …so , u may like/not like the place, while others have different points of view:)

            Not in kindy yet.
Places are very limited. Act now, think later. 😉
but if you are talking about enrolling your 2008 kid, BPMCK had recently started a PreNursery programme and 2008 kid's registration year is next year.

                  Hi mylittleprincess

It helps to really have a good mummy post the information here.

I am thinking of putting my 2 year old boy into full day childcare since I work and what you posted are so handy.

I am actually thinking of the Ichiban Kiddie Kollege and I am happy to read that your review about it is quite good.

I have never been in the center but I just spoke to the principal, Elizabeth and she sounds ok.

But not sure what the excursions seems like.

And are they really into montessori standard?

                  Cheers!

                  mylittleprincess:
                  hi
                  its me again:)

i went to another 2 CCC inBt Panjang, and here's my thots.

Carpe Diem Educare @ 167 Petir rd
i like the curriculum very much and the spacious classrooms. Wendy, the supervisor was very nice and friendly..children looked very active and happy:)..the only down side is they seem to have a TV in every room..n the kids were watching cartoon while waiting to shower ..didnt like the idea of watching tv..open air , no air con, separate kitchen, indoor gym + they do go outside , either to see birds/flowers or play games, or go to playground..nice:)
HD - $350 after sub, FD - $360 after sub..
a tad too far for me tho, cuz have to take a bus to pick my girl up...if its nearer to my place, i will shortlist this:)

                  Ichiban Kiddie Kollege
it is very clean from the outside..they didnt allow pple to go in cuz of H1N1, which is good. Principal Elizabeth is very nice and warm. A good thing is, they teach montessori and at very affordable price...downside, only offering Full day, and i have to take a bus to CCC. only one TV, (according to Principal) and tecahers look ok, young and friendly too...didnt manage to see the kitchen, but the air inside the rooms seem very clean and fresh. i like the environment. Quarterly outdoor excursions too.Nice..:)
But again, becuz its montessori, limited spaces..must reserve...
i might consider putting my girl there, for Full day, but may bring her back in the afternoons...
                  i like this one:)
FD- $320 after sub (very affordable :celebrate: )

after recce-ing so many CCCs, i think ichiban and the salvation army has given me some good vibes...im going to see another one soon, but will definitely shortlist these 2 to visit again..:)

                    hi micsarsam

elizabeth , the P of ichiban, said that not all the teachers are not montessori trained, but when its time for montessori, there will teachers who trained in montessori will take over the class..so, to me , its good enuff, since their rates are so affordable.. :rahrah:

i think u should drop by and have a look, since the opinions are based on my feelings lar..:)..but i think they did a good job in creating a nice learning environment..:)
i think the excursions also tie in with the themes that r taught in the term..like if got marine animals theme, then will go underwater world, if animals theme..will go zoo...quite fun..:)

                      Heyya micsarsam,

Please take time to view the actual place.
They have a few branches. The one i visited
at Hong San Walk did not leave me with a good
impression, IMHO… The manner a staff treated
an 18mth old girl really bothered me.

The poor cutie was crying and unable to lift
her mattress after nap time. When she spoke
in whatever bb language she cud muster to tell
the staff she cudn’t manage and needed help…
I remember the staff not only ignored her but
said this, "Awwh… if you dun keep your mattress
back to the cupboard, you cannot have your snack."
"If you cannot carry, then you stay here lor… byeee…"

                      :!:

I didn’t wanna stay a second longer. So heart pain…
The bb kept crying and with all her strength… dragged
the mattress slowly to the opposite class where the cupboard
supposedly was. Sigh. So poor thing reali… and the bb was so
                      cute some more.

I am enquiring about Canossain Convent Kindergarten at Jalan Merbok. Thinking of sending my daughter to K1 there.
Anyone's child is currently attending the school, would appreciate some information and feedback.

                        Thanks in advance. [/b]
