also from other parents, their child’s english improved too.

i think it is due to the teaching method used.
you can call and talk to joyce, she should be able to give more details and advise.

Hi. My child attended Learning Partners in Yishun last year. She scored A* for English in PSLE. Mdm Teo is a very dedicated teacher who makes sure students know their work. She has many good and creative ways to teach the students. My daughter enjoys her class very much. Do check out their Bedok branch 😄

I am not sure about zoophonics but based on the latest feedback I hear about Lcentral preschool program, it seems quite solid. I am refering to its program and not centre. But I assume all Lcentral centres will be using the same program.

The recent I heard was from my K2's classmate's mum. Her child did LW program, couldn't read and during K1, she switched her to Lcentral phonics program (probably launchpad) and she said after 1 month she is able to read 1 passage independently. They are now in the liftoff program.

The good thing I suppose is that Lcentral has primary level programs which the kids can progress to. My impression of zoophonics is that it stop at phonics.

Too bad, it's too late for us to turn back the clock but I hesitated to put my K2 in Lcentral program previously as it wasn't so established back then. Instead I put her to Jan & Elly phonics program since nursery and and also LW creative english. I've recently stopped her LW and come next month, I am switching her to Lcentral. I believed it will helped to prepare her for P1 better. But if we had started earlier, she will probably progress much further than now.

                  Thanks for ur feedback.

LCentral Tampines is charging $449.50/term 11 lessons which is much higher than Zoo-phonics which charges $335/term 3mths.

But Zoo-phonics is charging registration fee of $30, deposit of $120, Material $20 per course and enrolment pack of $95. Total $600 in the first payout which is quite high.

LCentral is charging $40 registration fee, how much is the course fee? Is there any deposit involved too?

I have seen LCentral materials. They are well structured.

Hmm ... I have differing views based solely on my own experience.

My child has been with Lcentral for almost a year ... still can't blend words .. so don't even talk about reading! When i asked the teacher for feedback, she'll go \"oh he's a lovely boy and is doing great!\"

I decided to send him to another centre (parallel-run) just to see if there's any difference (or if there's any problem with my son) ...I insisted on sitting in to \"monitor\" ... the teacher taught him blending & decoding in the 2 lessons that i sat in & he seems to be learning fine... he can read words (not sentences yet) straightaway during the lesson itself via blending (eg tip, top, op..cat, dog).
Before that, i tested him those words at home, he couldn't say these words (despite attending Lcentral for so long)! ... The teacher even emphasized on vowels & consonants sounds in the class. And my son can tell me he didn't know a,e,i,o,u are called vowels... etc ...

(the 2nd centre) Teacher commented that my son has only \"basic phonics\"(ie knows the sounds of specific alphabets; mostly consonants but clueless on some vowels) but is learning fine otherwise. Teacher then asked me if I have specific concerns for insisting to sit in (and explained that usually parents can't sit in), I then told her it is because he has been with another enrichment centre (i didn't specify which & she didn't ask) for almost a year & he seems stucked! The teacher opened her eyes wide, and said \"oh u mean he went for enrichment for almost a year? and after so long, still cannot blend words nor read?\" All I could afford was a forced smile 🙂 and I asked the teacher \"so u think u can help him?\" Teacher further commented \"bcos his phonics is very basic i initially thought his only phonics exposure was at school.. but he learns well..so u r welcome to \"test\" him at home yourself after few lessons; if you decide to sign up.. he should be able to read in sentences soon..he has no learning issues\"

I've since withdrawn him from Lcentral!

Maybe Lcentral works for the primary school level... but definitely not the preschool level... or rather, they teach too slowly for preschool level... i mean, how can a child not be able to read Cat , Dog , Sit after 1 year of enrichment?!!?! ie perhaps I am expected to commit a year's of fees before my child can read words? And perhaps another year's fees before he can read in sentences! Or maybe it is just not meant for my son! Whatever the reason, Enough money wasted in the 10 months he was there! I'm out! 🙂

                      Just sharing my experience.

                        Hi maisy,

Did u enroll ur boy to the tampines branch? I have read the other LCentral thread and it seem like it works pretty well for other kids… maybe its the branch??

May I know does ur boy improves after attending the other enrichment class? How old is ur boy? My DD is 4yo this yr.
