Ya can everyone share what the average marks their Sec1 DS got for Term1 cos looking at my DS results, I can't tell whether it is considered gd enough since it is really diff fr primary sch where most subjects' scores are above 90. Also, there is not ranking of positions so we don't know how our DS is performing in comparison to their classmates? My DS in gen score like abt 70 except for Eng scored 65. Is 65 for Eng v bad? Can someone fr those GEP classes also comment on their ave results?
how about other subjects ?kokweepoh:
My son did worst that, he only scored 45. Finding it difficult to squeeze out time on weekdays to teach him or send him for tuition classes. On week ends he is always occupied with projects n homework. Does your child have this similar issue? -

Do note they are touching on Sec2 and sec 3 standards for certain aspects of their school work. Morever, it is a big jump from 4 subjects to around 8 subjects. With the CCA, 3rd language, Merit CCA/CEC activities, it is tough for most boys. But the fact that they are there, usually means they have the abilities and likely potential to succeed later on. we should not be too concern after only the very first term.

Maybe verykiasu2010 would like to start the ball rolling ( since you asked first ) and share some information on how well your DS and his friends scored ? :lol:they are mindful of the GPA needed to go sec two and to join other program
don't think they are out to fail them. many of them also score high high marks like back in pri school like that
imho, for 1st term, the subjects likely to be above 90 would be Mathematics and History,as long as the students understand and put effort into studying. Science should be in the 80s too, but the languages mainly btw 70 to 80. They did say to get above 80 for languages would be High Distinction equivalent.
Average for all subjects should be around 70, I guess. These figures are based on my own estimation only.
It's only the first term of Sec 1, let them soak in further and grow into the rhythm of life in RI. I think the boys dont need us to give them more pressure :celebrate: -

I think you are quite spot on about the range of marks.
My DS did not do well in one subject (in his own word). His marks ranged from 70 to 100.
He is behind some of his classmates -
verykiasu2010:
Wow got 100 marks! For which subject? I thot full marks days are only in primary sch and quite impossible in sec 1, esp RI! Is your DS in GEP class?Strparent

The booking of slots to meet the teachers starts today. All slots are taken up. Anybody managed to book 8 slots with all the subject teachers?

how many slots (subjects) did you book ? -
vk2010, how about you ? got any slots ?
I logged in at 2pm, and almost every slot was gone, LOL. only the PE teacher has 4-5 slots available ... seems RI parents really super kiasu, hehehe.
nvm, I saved myself one trip. Anyway, most teachers can be corresponded via emails. just consoling myself

This is because most of the slots have been taken up by those with pink slips. They were allowed to log in earlier in the week as priority are given to these cases where teachers need to see the parents of under performing students.vk2010, how about you ? got any slots ?
